As an Advanced Manufacturing RF Product Engineer here at Honeywell, you will support MMIC products across post-production and development phases, including wafer probe, packaging, and final RF test. This role focuses on monitoring test yields and product performance through detailed electrical analysis (S-parameters, power, gain, efficiency), driving yield improvements, and leading root cause investigations for performance variability and defects. The engineer develops and optimizes test methodologies, correlates wafer-level and packaged results and ensures robust test documentation and production readiness.

In product development, the role includes test fixture and PCB design, lab-based RF characterization, and data analysis to define product specifications and improve device models and design kits. The position works closely with design, process, and test teams to resolve issues, validate models through measurement and back-fitting, and support high-frequency package design. Additional responsibilities include failure analysis support (SEM, FIB, electrical methods), prototype assembly, inspection, and preparation of technical reports to enable successful product release and delivery.

You will report directly to our Engineering Program Manager, and you’ll work out of our Richardson, TX location on an On-site work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the successful execution of producibility engineering projects that align with business objectives, contributing to revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and market competitiveness. Your technical skills and collaboration will help Honeywell develop and launch innovative aerospace products that meet evolving customer needs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and co-develop advanced GaN/GaAs RF MMIC designs (LNAs, PAs, mixers, switches) for defense applications including radar, EW, and space systems from L-band to above Ka-band.
  • Lead tape-out and foundry engagement, preparing MMIC designs (GaAs, GaN, SiGe, CMOS) for fabrication, ensuring PDK compliance, manufacturability, and seamless coordination through mask release.
  • Define architecture and translate product requirements into circuit specifications, feasibility studies, and optimized RF designs, balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Drive end-to-end NPI execution, including tape-out ownership, mask release, foundry coordination, and adherence to program milestones and risk management
  • Develop and execute DFM/DFT strategies, characterization plans, and qualification activities (reliability, ESD, thermal, process variation) to ensure production readiness
  • Develop and maintain robust parts and materials processing guidelines, ensuring compliance with quality, traceability, and reliability requirements.
  • Work hands-on in the lab using PNA-X and RF measurement equipment to support design introduction, validation, debug, and correlation between simulation, wafer probe, and final test data.
  • Implement and monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to track key performance metrics, identify process variation, and drive data-driven yield improvements.
  • Conduct yield analysis, root-cause investigation, and continuous improvement to resolve early production issues and ensure manufacturing compliance.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams and external partners, support IR&D and customer activities, and deliver complete technical documentation (reports, datasheets, readiness reviews) throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • 5+ years of RF circuit design experience, including RF/analog circuits, FET transistor theory, and microwave fundamentals
  • Coursework relating to RF design or Electromagnetics (RF theory).
  • Knowledge in active device theory fundamentals (FETs and diodes).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related Engineering curriculum.
  • Experience in RF design, simulation, and modeling using tools such as AWR or ADS
  • Hands-on RF measurement expertise, including small-signal s-parameters and use of vector network analyzers (VNA)
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Ansys SolidWorks, or similar
  • Experience with DoD environments, including familiarity with military qualification and testing standards
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication, foundry collaboration (PDKs, process corners), yield analysis, and high-volume manufacturing considerations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage tasks independently
