Company Description:

Raftelis partners with local governments and utilities to solve their most complex challenges. Over the last year, we've worked with more than 700 organizations across the full spectrum of management consulting, from finance and strategic planning to technology, communications, organizational assessment, and executive recruitment.

We’re proud to share that Raftelis has been certified as a Great Place to Work®! 93% of our employees say it is a great place to work, compared to 57% of employees at a typical US-based company. As one of our employees said, “At Raftelis, we maintain a great balance between hard work and allowing staff to focus on their lives outside of work. We also have a strong culture where people genuinely care about each other, and leadership is committed to doing what's best for both our employees and the firm”.

Job Summary:

The AI Solutions Analyst is a newly defined role at the intersection of technology and business operations. As AI becomes embedded in how we work across Raftelis, this role exists to reduce friction in business processes, build practical AI-powered tools and agents, and help staff make confident, effective use of AI in their daily work.

The AI Solutions Analyst will design, develop, test, and deploy AI workflows and agent instructions across business functions from business development and proposal writing to finance, operations, and client delivery. They will serve all staff and float across practice areas, working wherever the next problem needs solving.

Success here is measured by adoption, not output. The workflows and agents built in this role should be used, not shelved. Your teammates should be able to say that your instructions helped them and worked as intended. You will identify bugs and gaps proactively, before they become someone else's problem. Over time, the measure of impact is a firm where the staff is more confident and capable with AI than when you arrived, and where other teams actively seek you out as a trusted resource.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interview staff and conduct workflow discovery sessions to understand current business processes, inputs, and desired outputs before designing any AI solution
  • Design, build, test, verify, and deploy AI-powered workflows and agent instructions using platforms such as Rafio (Raftelis’ internal AI), Claude, and related tools
  • Break large, complex workflow challenges into manageable, testable components then integrate them into a cohesive solution
  • Iterate persistently on prompts, agent configurations, and workflows until outputs meet the standard staff need
  • Use AI tools to debug AI tools, diagnosing why a workflow or agent is not performing and knowing how to fix it
  • Identify and document bugs and integration issues, and collaborate with platform and technology teams to resolve them
  • Develop workflow instructions and documentation that support staff in using AI tools proficiently
  • Collaborate with a manager on prioritization and with cross-functional colleagues on requirements gathering
  • Contribute to the firm's evolving AI governance practices and help shape how AI is responsibly deployed at Raftelis

Requirements:

  • Conceptual fluency over technical depth. You do not need to be a software engineer. You do need to understand what AI can and cannot do. You do need to grasp the nature of agentic workflows, and appreciate the difference between deterministic and non-deterministic AI systems and what that means for how you write instructions and configure agents.
  • A process mindset. Before you build anything, you know how to learn a process. You ask the right questions, listen well, and can translate a messy human workflow into a structured, testable AI solution. This is not unlike the discovery methodology our organizational assessment consultants use.
  • Patience and persistence. It will not work the first time. The right candidate knows that, embraces it, and iterates until it does.
  • Curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement. AI is moving fast. You stay current, experiment freely, and bring new ideas to the team.
  • A genuine commitment to making other people's jobs easier. This role is in service of staff. Your measure of success is whether the people you built something for find it useful.
  • Alignment with our mission. We work with local governments and utilities because we believe in improving the everyday lives of the communities they serve. You share that conviction.

We are open to candidates from a wide range of industries and backgrounds. Prior work in the AI space is ideal. What matters most is how you think: with curiosity, structure, patience, and a genuine desire to make things work for the people around you.

Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every job description task. We are most interested in someone who will be additive to our growing AI team and who is not afraid to be the smartest person in the room on this topic. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.

Rewards:

Working for a values-based organization focused on growth with excellent benefits that include:

  • 100% company-paid employee medical (HSA plan) and 50% company-paid dependent medical coverage and dental benefits
  • Health Savings Account
  • Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Vision Insurance
  • Company paid Life and Disability Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Discretionary paid time off program
  • Education Reimbursement Program
  • 401(k) with company contributions
  • Long-Term care benefits
  • Pet insurance

The salary range for the AI Solutions Analyst position is $89k to $125k. Compensation depends on experience and location.
