Come build something that matters.

It takes great people to achieve greatness. People with a sense of purpose and integrity. People with a relentless pursuit of excellence. People who care about making things better For Those Who Make The World™. Sound like you? Join our top-notch team of approximately 43,500 diverse and high-performing professionals globally who are making their mark on some of the world’s most beloved brands, including DEWALT®, BLACK+DECKER®, CRAFTSMAN®, STANLEY®, CUB CADET®, and HUSTLER®.

The Job:

As an Application Engineer for Data Centers, you’ll be part of our Stanley Engineered Fastening (SEF) team working as a remote employee.  You are the technical voice of the customer in the data center market — and the voice of that market back inside SEF. You own the customer-facing technical relationship with the companies who build the data centers: hyperscalers, colocation operators, EPCs and GCs. You own that same relationship with the rack and server OEMs, PDU manufacturers, and HVAC and cooling suppliers whose equipment fills them. Working shoulder to shoulder with the commercial lead, you are the technical expert on everything surrounding data centers, and you reach across SEF and the wider SBD enterprise to make sure the right technical solution is brought to every application. You stay with that application from design review through joint qualification, installer training, and field rollout, promoting the full SEF fastener and automation portfolio. You’ll get to:

  • Design-in and specification. Engage at the design and development stage, before specifications are frozen; get SEF joints written into OEM drawings, EPC standards, and master specifications.
  • Joint development and qualification. Prove the SEF solution early so it gets designed in rather than substituted later — lead application reviews, trials, and validation with the customer, and supply the technical evidence their engineering teams need to approve and specify it.
  • Industry fluency. Become SEF's internal authority on data center codes, standards, and nuance — seismic and structural requirements, bonding and grounding, NEC/UL and NFPA-driven electrical practice, fire-stopping and containment, cleanliness and FOD control in live white space, and safety/badging rules that govern work on an occupied campus.
  • Voice of the customer. Work collaboratively across all SEF functions, feeding voice-of-customer insight back to Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing: application gaps, competitive losses, and new product opportunities specific to this vertical.
  • Solutions Delivery. Bring SEF solutions to customer problems — samples, mock-ups, and live application demonstrations that show the joint working in their environment. Make the benefit explicit: installation speed, reliability, labor and rework avoidance, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Field problem resolution. Own technical escalations on active projects — root cause, corrective action, and a documented action plan.
  • Collaboration. Work as one team with the broader Application Engineering group, commercial team, vertical leads, product management, purchasing, operations and quality share plays that transfer to other verticals.
  • Competitive positioning. Maintain current, evidence-based comparisons against Huck, Ingersoll Rand, Gesipa, Ornit and others on install time and installed cost per joint to defend our TCO advantage.
  • A published, current data center application and standards playbook the whole AE team can use.

The Person:

You love to learn and grow and be acknowledged for your valuable contributions. You’re not intimidated by innovation. Wouldn’t it be great if you could do your job and do a world of good? In fact, you embrace it. You also have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent applied experience.
  • 5+ years in application engineering, field engineering, or technical sales of fasteners, fastening tools, or engineered components.
  • Experience selling or specifying data center projects - construction, electrical, or infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of mechanical joint design, fastener selection, torque/tension, corrosion, and vibration behavior.
  • Comfortable reading drawings and specifications; 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication; credible and persuasive in front of both a customer engineer and a field crew.
  • Program management skills — able to run multiple concurrent projects to a schedule, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive actions to closure.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint) for analysis, reporting, and customer-facing presentations.
  • Self-directed remote operator with the discipline to manage a multi-project territory and heavy travel.
  • Knowledge of quality practice (APQP, PPAP, root cause analysis) preferred.

The Details:

You’ll receive a competitive salary and a great benefits plan, including:

  • Medical, dental, life, vision, disability, 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement in addition to programs & benefits in support of your well-being.
