JOB SUMMARY
The Glenview Park District is proud to operate a dynamic and diverse aquatic program which includes three facilities: Splash Indoor Aquatic Center (a year-round, indoor facility), Flick Outdoor Aquatic Center (summer only, outdoor facility) and Roosevelt Aquatic Center  (summer only, outdoor facility). Our aquatics department offers a wide variety of programs and activities, including swim lessons to nearly 5,000 annual participants, pool rentals/parties, outdoor food concessions, birthday parties and other special events.

As part of the full-time Aquatics team of three led by Manager of Aquatics, this position serves as the primary supervisor for swim lesson programming, while the other Aquatics Supervisor focus is lifeguard and facility operations. This team works collaboratively on annual training, swim instructor and lifeguard certification classes, regular meetings of key part-time staff, in-services or other required/necessary trainings, facility management, lifeguarding and staffing (recruiting, training and evaluating) in support of delivering high-quality aquatic experiences for the Glenview community. The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for the following duties, but not limited to:

  • Swim lessons, instructional programming, instructor development, and program quality.
  • Develop, organize, monitor, evaluate, and schedule all aspects of Starfish Aquatics Institute group and private swim lesson programming for indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities.
  • Develop and maintain consistent swim lesson curriculum, skill benchmarks, level progression standards, and instructional expectations.
  • Monitor program quality and participant progression, utilizing enrollment, program evaluations, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for continued program improvement.
  • Provide active and visible on-site supervision of aquatic staff and facilities, including daily operational decision-making, staff oversight, and implementation of aquatic programs.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate Group Swim Instructors, Private Swim Instructors, Swim Lesson Coordinators, and members of the part-time leadership team.
  • Support lifeguard operations, facility management, safety, and overall aquatics operations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, Business Administration or related field. Will consider significant and material experience in lieu of formal education; Experience: At least two years of previous supervisory experience required, recreation programming or aquatic experience preferred; Certifications: Must be able to acquire the following certifications: StarGuard Elite Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor Certifications (within three (3) months), Starfish Aquatics Institute Swim Lesson (within three (3) months); valid Illinois driver’s license required along with own source of reliable transportation.


SCHEDULING & PAY

This is a full-time, year-round position. Daily schedule will vary based on facility hours of operation and seasonal need, must be available to work nights and weekends based on program and facility needs. This position shares on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis and is expected to be on duty whenever the need exists. The target hiring range is $65,000- $75,000 dependent on qualifications. The full pay range is $64,674.84-$93,778.20.
