Position Summary
The Assistant Controller oversees the corporate accounting function, including the monthly close process, financial reporting, and consolidation of results across the organization. This role manages the corporate accounting staff, leads the annual financial audit and income tax filings, and is responsible for establishing sound accounting policies, internal controls, and standardized processes in compliance with U.S. GAAP. The Assistant Controller also oversees collections and cash disbursement activities, partnering closely with the Controller to support the financial integrity of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and post journal entries
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and roll forwards
- Oversee the month-end close process
- Support month-end financial reporting
- Responsible for intercompany eliminations and consolidation entries
- Oversee the annual financial audit
- Oversee the preparation of federal and state income tax returns
- Oversee collection activities and reporting
- Oversee the cash disbursement process
- Oversee corporate accounting staff
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standardize accounting processes
- Help establish and maintain internal controls
- Help establish and ensure accounting policies are in compliance with U.S. GAAP
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management experience
- Manufacturing industry experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Excellent experience with Microsoft products
