Specialty Programs Group – Transportation (SPGT) is seeking the position of Assistant Vice-President of Business Development. This position is looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong knowledge of insurance, wholesale and retail distribution, and marketing.  Responsible for managing and executing each assigned specialty segment strategy for distribution excellence for your designated geography. At the same time continue to build each brand, leading to increased industry recognition, revenue, relevance, and respect amongst our target audience: agents, brokers, carriers, and employees. Support the operating, financial and strategic goals for all SPGT Divisions in collaboration with the respective leaders.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Insurance Product Line Responsibility: Represent all SPGT Divisions, products and services to all sizes of 3rd party insurance distributors, in the assigned geography, to drive profitable growth. 

  • New Relationships - Sales Strategy & Prospecting: Implement strategic business development initiatives aimed at driving growth within SPGT

  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key agency decision-makers of various sizes and geographic locations focusing on large opportunities and controlled books of business. Serve as the primary point of contact for new distribution partners until the relationships have been passed successfully to the program specialist, team leaders or other SPG company representatives. Maximize new distribution opportunities through existing and newly appointed agencies within assigned geographic territories focusing on business target state strategies.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Business Leaders of our SPG companies to execute strategy to find new trading relationships focusing primarily on new target states.  

  • Performance Tracking: Set and track sales goals, provide regular updates to senior management on business development progress, and implement corrective actions as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive New Agency Business Opportunities to our SPT Division through new agency relationship development

  • Travel to 3rd party distribution offices required 15 -20 times per month.

  • Accountable to participate in the SPGT monthly conference calls with Business Leaders

KPI:

  • Appoint 2 new producing SPGT – Last Mile Delivery Agencies that will generate a combined $200,000 in annual net Revenue.

  • Appoint 4 new producing SPGT – Moving & Storage Agencies that will generate a combined $200,000 in annual net Revenue.

  • Appoint 5 new producing SPGT – Trucking Agencies that will generate a combined $500,000 in annual net Revenue.

  • Work with business leaders to deliver profitable growth within their target state strategy defined in their business plan.

SALARY RANGE

  • $100,000 - $120,000

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Products

  • Detail-oriented

  • Superior communication, interpersonal, multi-tasking, and organizational skills required

  • Public Speaking and Presentation experience

  • A team player with a great attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • College Diploma or University Degree

LICENSING OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid P&C License

Compensation:

Disclosure required under applicable law in California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, and Washington states: The expected salary range for this position is $100,000-$120,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages: health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits such as vacation, sick, and personal days, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
