We are seeking a resilient and adaptable Associate Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role will participate in month-end, quarterly, and year-end close including journal entry preparation, reconciliations, accounting analyses, and month-end reporting & consolidations. The Associate Accountant will prepare various financial statements and book accounting entries across our different entities. The ideal match for this role is results-oriented, proactive, and a team player. This is an entry level position.

Position location: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (3x per week) based out of Deerfield, IL. Fortune Brands has transitioned to a new world-class campus in Deerfield, bringing together associates from across our U.S. offices, brands, and functions. The campus will offer vibrant workspaces for collaboration, along with amenities for dining, onsite daycare, fitness and recreation. 

RESPONSIBLIITIES:

What you will be doing

• Participate in month-end, quarterly and year-end closing processes including journal preparation, intracompany reconciliations, profit center accounting analyses, various ad-hoc analyses, month-end reporting schedules and consolidations.
• Prepare various Financial Statements in Oracle-based reporting tools for submission to Corporate.
• Serve as a liaison with entities for booking various accounting related entries.
• Manage and monitor various transactions between various intercompany entities.
• Assist as needed with internal and external auditors for quarterly and annual audits.
• Prepare and analyze various balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations on various accounts. Work on resolving any reconciling items.
• Serve as an alternate to other roles within the Accounting department as needed.
• Conduct ad hoc analysis, account / cost center analysis and reports as assigned.
• Analyze period changes for specified balance sheet accounts.
• Assist other departments and participate in special projects as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 0–2 years of experience required; 2+ years preferred.
• Proficient Excel skills.
• Flexible, self-confident, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Results-oriented, energetic, proactive communicator and team player with the ability to think conceptually and strategically.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP systems (e.g., Oracle E‑Business Suite, Oracle Cloud ERP) and Oracle reporting tools a plus.
• Persuasive, organized, and adaptable in various situations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $60,000 USD - $80,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
