Position Overview:
Ocient is seeking an Associate Product Manager (APM) to support the Product Management team with a strong focus on product operations, execution, and cross-functional coordination. This role is designed for a highly technical, motivated individual who wants to grow into a full Product Manager role.

You will work closely with senior product managers, engineering, solutions, and sales to help keep product initiatives moving, improve product processes, and develop a deep understanding of Ocient’s technology, customers, and market. Over time, this role will expand to include direct ownership of product areas and roadmap responsibility.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone transitioning from engineering or technical sales into product management.

Responsibilities:
Product Operations & Execution:
  • Support product managers in roadmap planning, execution tracking, and release coordination across multiple initiatives.
  • Help maintain product backlogs, documentation, requirements, and prioritization artifacts.
  • Track commitments, dependencies, and delivery milestones to ensure product initiatives stay on schedule.
  • Assist with release readiness activities, including documentation, enablement materials, and internal communications.
Cross-Functional Support:
  • Act as a connective layer between Product, Engineering, Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success.
  • Gather and synthesize input from technical teams and customer-facing groups into clear product insights.
  • Help ensure product decisions and priorities are well understood across stakeholders.
Product Learning & Growth:
  • Develop a deep understanding of Ocient’s platform, architecture, and customer use cases.
  • Participate in customer discussions, technical reviews, and internal product forums.
  • Gradually take ownership of defined product areas, features, or initiatives as skills and experience grow.

Ideal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, systems engineering, or technical sales/solutions engineering.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex systems and communicate them clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage details, and follow through in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn product management best practices.
  • Interest in building a long-term career in product management.

An Exceptional Candidate Will Have:
  • Someone who is technically strong but wants broader ownership and impact.
  • A clear communicator who can translate between engineering and business perspectives.
  • A proactive problem-solver who sees gaps and helps close them without being asked.
  • An individual excited by complexity, scale, and learning how great products are built.

Interview Requirements: All interviews are conducted via video and require candidates to have their camera on for the duration of the session. The use of video filters, face-altering effects, or virtual backgrounds is not permitted for security and verification purposes.
