The Associate Sourcing Manager supports the development and execution of sourcing strategies for assigned Exclusive Brand (EB) products. This role partners closely with Category Management and Sourcing leadership to drive cost competitiveness, margin improvement, and supply reliability through effective supplier management, cost analysis, and disciplined sourcing execution.

This role is segmented as Hybrid. You will be onsite in Rosemont, IL 3 days a week (Tuesday - Thursday) and Virtual Monday and Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Sourcing Execution & Support

  • Support sourcing strategy execution in alignment with category and merchandising objectives.

  • Assist in planning and scheduling sourcing events and RFPs in partnership with Category Management and Sourcing leadership.

  • Translate sourcing plans into day-to-day execution activities and deliverables.

Supplier Management

  • Support management of supplier relationships for assigned EB products.

  • Assist with supplier performance tracking, scorecards, and routine reviews.

  • Coordinate follow-ups with suppliers to address cost, service, or performance gaps.

Cost Analysis & Modeling

  • Perform cost analysis and support “clean sheet” cost modeling efforts.

  • Gather and analyze supplier cost data to identify potential savings opportunities.

  • Prepare sourcing and pricing analyses to support negotiations and leadership decision-making.

Negotiation & Contract Support

  • Support supplier negotiations within defined guidelines and authority.

  • Prepare and process contract amendments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to sourcing standards.

  • Assist with initiatives focused on working capital improvement, including DPO support activities.

RFP & Sourcing Process

  • Execute assigned portions of RFPs, including data collection, analysis, and documentation.

  • Ensure sourcing materials, recommendations, and approvals are complete and timely.

  • Support post-award implementation and tracking of savings and supplier commitments.

Operational & Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Maintain weekly price calculations, pricing routines, and price file updates.

  • Conduct research related to zero-rate opportunities and cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Monitor supplier fill rate and escalate issues to Sourcing leadership as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Category Management, Finance, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to support sourcing execution.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for sourcing processes and assigned product areas.

SUPERVISION:

  • N/A

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Work across all levels of USF staff within corporate, region and divisional organizations, up to and including corporate executive leadership.

  • External: Manage relationships with multiple critical vendors and work closely with external third parties, vendors and consulting firms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid: This role is partially remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a combined home-based and office-based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of Sourcing or related experience including RFP, negotiations, vendor management and pricing.

  • Proven experience in negotiations.

  • Ability to operate successfully in a matrix environment and work effectively across multiple groups and levels.

  • Solid negotiation skills and excellent communication skills.

  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to utilizing the skills of influence, persuasion and negotiation to achieve goals.

  • Solid quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to work in a team setting, drive team results and support change management within the organization. 

  • Able to provide fact-based recommendations across various levels of management.

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills. 

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Microsoft Outlook.

EDUCATION

  • Four-year college degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Sourcing or related experience within the foodservice industry or food manufacturing companies.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds).  The expected base rate for this role is between

$65,000 - $100,000
