The Associate Vice President of Information Technology / Chief Information Officer (AVP IT/CIO) provides strategic leadership and direction for the University’s information technology environment while supporting enterprise-wide financial stewardship and governance. Reporting to the Vice President of Administration and Finance / CFO, this role serves as a critical bridge between technology strategy, financial management, and institutional priorities. The AVP IT/CIO is responsible for aligning IT strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and services with the University’s academic, research, and administrative objectives, while ensuring sound fiscal management, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency. The position emphasizes collaboration with university leadership, data-informed decision-making, and innovation to enhance services, security, and institutional performance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategic Leadership and Governance: Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with the University’s strategic plan and financial objectives. Partner with university leadership to integrate technology planning with institutional budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning. Establish and oversee IT governance frameworks that ensure transparency, accountability, value realization, and risk management. Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on technology, financial systems, enterprise data, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Information Technology Oversight: Provide executive oversight of IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, applications, data platforms, and end-user services. Ensure high availability, scalability, reliability, and security of all technology services. Lead initiatives to modernize systems, improve service delivery, and enhance the user experience for students, faculty, and staff. Promote a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement within IT and across the institution.
  • Financial and Operational Stewardship: Collaborate with the VP of Administration and Finance/CFO on financial systems strategy, process improvements, internal controls, and compliance. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial management for IT operations, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources. Support enterprise financial reporting, analytics, and decision-support systems. Evaluate technology investments for financial impact, return on investment, and alignment with institutional priorities.
  • Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance: Provide leadership for cybersecurity strategy, data protection, and IT risk management.Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards (e.g., data privacy, FERPA, financial controls). Promote cybersecurity awareness and training across the University community. Partner with internal and external stakeholders on audits, risk assessments, and remediation efforts.
  • Leadership, Collaboration, and Communication: Lead and mentor IT leaders and managers; foster professional development and accountability. Collaborate extensively with academic, administrative, and external partners. Communicate complex technical and financial information clearly to non-technical audiences. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s mission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirement Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience)
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in area of expertise

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment. All international degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
