Job Title:        Adult League On-Site Supervisor/Scorekeeper

Department:  Recreation

Location:        1500 E. Euclid, Mount Prospect, IL 60056

Reports To:    Recreation Supervisor of Athletics

Status:           Seasonal Part-time, Non-Exempt

 

Essential Functions

The on-site supervisor/scorekeeper is responsible for maintaining team/game statistics, supervising league games and facility/parks and serves as a liaison between team captains and the Recreation Supervisor. Leagues include, but aren’t limited to adult softball, adult basketball and adult flag football.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the park district’s policies and operations and enforce them in a positive manner
  • Arrive 15-45 minutes prior to game time (depending on amount of games)
  • Set up and take down equipment as needed
  • Operate scoreboard devices and properly complete sport scorebook.
  • Report scores to Recreation Supervisor
  • Assist in solving any verbal or physical arguments
  • Report any written or verbal messages from team captains to Recreation Supervisor and distribute any information to the team captains
  • Ensure facility/park is kept clean, secure and safe
  • Report broken equipment/supplies to supervisor
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor
  • Complete own timesheet after every shift

Risk Management

  • Actively supports and enforces the safety program instituted by the Park District
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all general agency and department-specific safety rules
  • Attend required safety program and in-service education meetings as directed
  • Correct unsafe conditions and/or reports them to Recreation Supervisor
  • Enforce safety disciplinary policies and procedures
  • Use protective gloves, masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to pathogens
  • Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the safety program of the River Trails Park District
  • Take charge in all emergency situations and complete necessary incident forms

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Reliable and prompt for work
  • Fair, attentive, enthusiastic and display a good personality
  • Ability to relate & assist staff, officials, teams, and spectators
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be available on weeknights after 5pm and weekends as early as 8am
  • Valid Driver’s License required

Recommended Qualifications

  • Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 3 months of employment
  • Knowledge of sport specific scorekeeping skills and game rules
  • Organized
  • Bilingual a plus

             Sedentary Work         Lifting 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools.  Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.


             Light Work.                Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.  Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is in this category when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree or when it involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
