The Opportunity
As an Automation Engineering Intern, you will work alongside our engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to support automation and controls projects at MAPEI’s West Chicago manufacturing facility. You will gain hands-on experience with industrial equipment, control systems, troubleshooting, and continuous-improvement initiatives in a live manufacturing environment. This experience may lead to future opportunities in automation, controls, or manufacturing engineering.

  • Support automation and controls projects for manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Assist with PLC, HMI, sensor, instrumentation, and control-system activities.
  • Help troubleshoot equipment and identify opportunities to improve reliability.
  • Collect and analyze equipment, process, and automation-performance data.
  • Support system testing, validation, documentation, and implementation.
  • Assist with technical drawings, reports, procedures, and project deliverables.

The Program Details

  • Full-time schedule (40 hours per week)
  • Internship duration: May–August 2027 (12 weeks)
  • Practical, hands-on learning in a live manufacturing environment
  • Host location: West Chicago, IL
