Lyntris is a defense technology company that connects sensing to action across the connected battlespace. Lyntris brings together the talents of Accelint and Vitesse teams under one mission, with each contributing deep expertise within their domain. Combining differentiated hardware, software and mission expertise, Lyntris helps customers sense threats, make sense of complex conditions and act with greater speed, precision and confidence in contested environments.

Lyntris supports U.S. and allied defense organizations across every branch — including Navy, Army, Air Force, Space Force and allied partners — spanning strategic, operational and tactical missions and every domain: Space, Air, Land, Sea and Cyber. With more than 200 active defense programs, Lyntris works at every level of the mission, from national command authority to the tactical edge.

Solutions are designed by operators who understand the mission, engineered for the conditions that degrade or defeat standard systems, and built on an open, modular architecture that integrates into existing programs without requiring them to start over. Lyntris moves faster than the traditional defense cycle — with integrated design, build and test capabilities in-house — and delivers systems that sustain and endure long after initial fielding.

We are seeking an experienced Autonomy Architect/Engineer to support the development and evolution of Government Reference Architectures for autonomous and mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering and software architecture, with expertise in SysML/UML modeling and translating operational concepts into architecture products, interface specifications, and traceable engineering artifacts. This role will collaborate closely with software engineers, systems engineers, test engineers, and operational stakeholders to define scalable, interoperable reference architectures that enable the integration of autonomous capabilities across complex defense systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve Government Reference Architectures supporting autonomy, command-and-control, and mission-critical systems.
  • Translate operational concepts, mission objectives, and stakeholder requirements into architecture views, interface specifications, system requirements, and traceable engineering artifacts.
  • Create and maintain SysML/UML models that accurately represent system behavior, interfaces, workflows, and architectural relationships.
  • Develop behavioral models including state machines, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, decision logic, and other systems engineering artifacts.
  • Define system interfaces, architectural patterns, and integration approaches that support modular, scalable, and interoperable system designs.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, test engineers, and operational users to mature architecture products throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Support architecture reviews, design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer engagements.
  • Ensure architecture products maintain traceability between operational concepts, system requirements, interface definitions, and implementation activities.
  • Contribute to architecture governance, modeling standards, and systems engineering best practices.
  • Support digital engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) initiatives where applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of systems engineering, software architecture, or systems architecture experience.
  • Strong understanding of SysML and UML behavioral modeling techniques and interface specification development.
  • Experience modeling complex systems using state machines, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, decision logic, and related architectural modeling methods.
  • Experience translating operational concepts into architecture views, engineering requirements, interface definitions, and traceable model artifacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers, systems engineers, test engineers, and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Currently holds an active U.S. national security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
  • Master's degree or PhD in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience developing software or system architectures for defense, aerospace, autonomous systems, or other mission-critical environments.
  • 1+ years of experience using Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw/NoMagic).
  • Knowledge of autonomy and robotics integration, mission planning, task allocation, and command-and-control architectures.
  • Familiarity with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles and implementation.
  • Experience supporting Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives and digital engineering environments.
  • Experience working with Government Reference Architectures, open architecture frameworks, or defense interoperability standards.
  • Active-duty military experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Clearance Requirements
