The AVP Data Insights & Analytics role is an officer position that plays a leading role in driving accountability for the execution of CNA's most critical underwriting strategies. This role will lead a team that drives organizational change through the consistent adoption of portfolio management processes and tools across each of CNA's relevant business area globally.
This position will be accountable for the ultimate outcomes produced by those processes - leading the team that creates the data-driven tools and executes the pre and post deployment change management to embed these core processes into how the organization operates day-to-day in a way that is consistent with CNA's global underwriting committee framework. They will work to iteratively enhance these processes with a variety of business and technical leaders to ensure each component of all processes are optimally achieving the desired outcomes.
Additionally, they will transition these processes to be forward looking and real time, leveraging CNA's cloud data investments and cutting edge generative AI capabilities to accomplish these objectives in a way never before possible.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
  • Evolve CNA's core portfolio management processes to leverage real-time and granular information through a combination of generative AI capabilities and traditional cloud based data analytics.
  • Collaborate with underwriting leadership to ensure alignment between accountability and targets at various levels in the organization. Serve as a trusted advisor in determining the best way to measure and understand outcomes through the combination of traditional data-driven KPIs and granular generative AI produced insights.
  • Serve as a business owner to drive consistent definition of relevant key KPIs.
  • Ensure a strong cohesion between portfolio targets, core systems, supporting tools, and underwriting frameworks such as guidebooks to drive cohesive execution.
  • Produce data driven scenario and forward looking projection tools that can be leveraged to optimize portfolio composition at all levels in the organization.
  • Drive accelerated generative AI usage within the team to substantially enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on how to best enforce and monitor accountability for key portfolio outcomes.
  • Drive prioritization of core cloud based data, analytics, and AI features to further CNA's capabilities in this area using modern value-stream based agile product frameworks.
  • Lead staff with accountability and an emphasis on excellence in execution, talent management, and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to SVP & Actuary, Global Portfolio Management and UW Analytics
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of core commercial insurance concepts and key steps in the underwriting process across various commercial property & casualty lines of business.
  • Proven influential leadership, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively influence and partner with senior executive customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners within scope of responsibility, team and/or matrix environment.
  • Core understanding of business process engineering principles including the behavioral and organizational psychology principles that produce optimal business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated propensity for continuous learning and entrepreneurial success through the use of generative AI and other advanced technology to drive toward business outcomes.
  • Excellent technical and data analysis skills.
  • Core understanding of what is required to drive large scale organizational change management initiatives on a continuous basis.
  • Knowledge of core agile product management principles

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with Master's preferred in Computer Science, Business, Analytics, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent.
  • Typically a minimum of fifteen years of related work experience, with seven years management experience.

I n certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia , California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois , Maryland , Massachusetts , New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $152,000 to $242,000 annually.Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
