Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to design, implement, and manage our cloud-based virtual desktop infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure cloud services, AVD architecture, automation, and modern end-user computing solutions. This role is critical in delivering a seamless, secure, and scalable desktop experience for our users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments for multi-region or enterprise-scale deployments.
  • Optimize user session performance, auto-scaling, FSLogix profiles, and application delivery.
  • Leverage Active Directory and Group Policy to manage access to the environment and control pieces of the environment that can include session management and security and various other needs as they arise.
  • Automate AVD provisioning and updates using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and PowerShell
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance, availability, and user experience issues using tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and third-party platforms (e.g., Nerdio Manager).
  • Collaborate with Security, Network, Application teams, and Helpdesk teams to ensure compliance and efficient support.
  • Provide documentation, training, and knowledge transfer to operations teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD).
  • Strong understanding of Azure services: Azure AD, Networking, Storage, NSGs, RBAC, and Identity Management.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Azure CLI).
  • Experience with FSLogix, Azure Files/NetApp, and multi-session optimization.
  • Knowledge of endpoint management (Intune, GPO, SCCM).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and cost optimization tools in Azure.
  • Familiarity with DEX tools such as Nexthink.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft certifications: AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), AZ-140 (Configuring and Operating AVD), or AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with third-party AVD management tools (e.g., Nerdio)
  • Background in security practices related to virtual desktop infrastructure.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
