Job Summary:
The BIM Content Specialist supports the firm’s BIM strategy by developing and managing technical BIM content, maintaining modeling standards, and improving digital design workflows. This role focuses on advanced Revit content development, BIM standards implementation, model performance optimization, and user support. The position also plays a key role in developing structured training programs and onboarding technical staff to ensure consistent BIM execution across projects. The BIM Content Coordinator works closely with the BIM Manager, discipline leaders, and project teams to support efficient, standards-driven model and content development.
Responsibilities:
BIM Content Development and Management
- Develop advanced parametric Revit families including system components, equipment, annotation elements, and detail items aligned with engineering design workflows.
- Maintain and organize the firm’s BIM content library, including version control, shared parameters, and classification structures.
- Manage Revit templates, view templates, schedules, filters, and project setup standards.
- Optimize families and model components for performance, usability, and consistency across projects.
- Evaluate manufacturer content and external libraries for compliance with internal BIM standards.
- Support implementation of data standards including shared parameters, tagging strategies, and schedule integration.
BIM Standards and Technical Implementation
- Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining BIM content standards, modeling guidelines, and best practices.
- Support implementation of internal modeling standards across project teams.
- Review project models for compliance with firm standards and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Assist with testing and implementation of new BIM tools, plugins, and workflow improvements.
- Support model health monitoring and performance optimization for large or complex project models.
Training and User Development
- Assist in developing and maintaining a structured BIM training program for new hires and existing staff.
- Create technical training materials, internal documentation, and learning resources related to BIM workflows and standards.
- Provide onboarding training for new technical staff including software setup, templates, and content usage.
- Conduct targeted training sessions focused on advanced Revit tools, content usage, and modeling best practices.
- Identify recurring user issues and incorporate solutions into training and documentation.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide advanced technical support for Revit modeling issues, family behavior, and model performance.
- Troubleshoot issues related to worksharing, linking, model coordination, and content functionality.
- Assist project teams with resolving complex modeling challenges and improving modeling workflows.
- Coordinate with IT and software vendors regarding software updates, licensing, and technical issues.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with discipline leaders and project teams to support BIM implementation and improve modeling efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve BIM workflows, content performance, and modeling consistency.
- Assist the BIM Manager with firmwide BIM initiatives, standards enforcement, and technology evaluation.
- Support the evaluation and integration of emerging BIM technologies, automation tools, and digital delivery practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior professional experience working as a designer or engineer in a consulting engineering or design environment.
- 4+ years of BIM experience within an engineering, architecture, or construction environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit including family creation, template management, and project setup.
- Strong understanding of BIM standards, model organization, and data-driven modeling practices.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical modeling issues and support multiple project teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support technical users.
Additional Experience We Value:
- Experience developing advanced parametric Revit families and managing content libraries.
- Experience with Dynamo, Rushforth, or other automation tools for BIM workflow enhancement.
- Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks Manage, and model coordination workflows.
- Experience implementing BIM standards in a multi-discipline engineering environment.
- Experience in creating internal technical documentation, training programs, or standards manuals.

Compensation & Benefits:
The expected base salary range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
