Scope of Position 


This highly technical and customer-focused individual, as part of the Sales organization, will be responsible for developing and converting strategic project opportunities within Watts' Mega Projects verticals, including Data Centers, Semiconductor, EV/Battery, Hydronic Cooling, Process Water, Technical Water, HVAC, and other large-scale Commercial and Industrial applications.


The Mega Projects & Applications Business Development Manager serves as both a business development leader and technical application expert, supporting customers throughout the project lifecycle from early design and specification through bidding, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation. This role develops relationships with owners, developers, engineers, contractors, distribution partners, and manufacturers' representatives to drive project specifications, increase Watts content on major projects, and strengthen Watts' market position within targeted verticals.


This position is not responsible for supervision of others.


This position reports to the appropriate National Sales Manager or Director.


This role is remote and requires significant travel throughout the South-Central U.S. territory. Candidates should be located near a major airport.


Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic Mega Project opportunities within Data Center, Semiconductor, EV/Battery, Commercial, Industrial, and related growth verticals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, developers, engineering firms, general contractors, mechanical contractors, distribution partners, and manufacturers' representatives.
  • Engage project stakeholders early in the design cycle to influence product selection, specifications, basis-of-design positions, and project requirements.
  • Develop and execute project-specific business development strategies to maximize Watts content and successfully convert opportunities into orders.
  • Build and maintain a robust project pipeline, including visibility to project schedules, stakeholders, specifications, competitive positioning, and forecasted opportunities.
  • Provide technical support and application expertise for Hydronic Cooling, Process Water, Technical Water, HVAC, and associated mechanical piping systems.
  • Assist engineers, contractors, end users, and distribution partners with system design, product selection, specification development, and application guidance.
  • Support development of master specifications and project documentation that promote inclusion of Watts products and solutions.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Applications Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to develop project-specific solutions and address customer requirements.
  • Coordinate project quotations, pricing strategies, commercial positioning, and competitive response plans to maximize project success.
  • Monitor project schedules, procurement timing, material requirements, and execution risks, while proactively communicating issues and escalation needs.
  • Provide technical field support and troubleshooting assistance during installation, commissioning, start-up, operation, and maintenance activities.
  • Develop and deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on training programs for engineers, contractors, end users, manufacturers' representatives, and channel partners.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry standards, plumbing codes, mechanical codes, specifications, and regulations that influence product selection and system design.
  • Represent Watts at industry conferences, trade shows, standards committees, customer events, and industry associations.
  • Gather and communicate market intelligence, customer feedback, industry trends, competitive insights, and emerging application requirements to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify product gaps, market opportunities, and customer needs that may support future product development, service offerings, and business initiatives.
  • Partner closely with Watts sales teams, representative agencies, and distribution partners to strengthen Watts' market position and drive growth.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, project, and forecast information within applicable CRM and business systems.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve technical, commercial, operational, and supply chain challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that enhance Watts' ability to identify, pursue, win, and execute Mega Projects.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by management.

  • Travel Requirements: up to 70% Travel

Required Qualifications 


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Business, Industrial Technology, HVAC, Mechanical Systems, or related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in technical sales, field sales, applications engineering, business development, or customer-facing commercial roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting engineered products, systems, and technical applications.
  • Experience within flow control, plumbing, HVAC, hydronic systems, process water, industrial piping, mechanical systems, or related industries.
  • Working knowledge of valves, actuators, hydronic cooling systems, process water systems, HVAC systems, and associated piping applications.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle management, including design, specification, bidding, procurement, construction, and project execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and influence decision-makers throughout complex project environments.
  • Experience working with owners, engineers, consultants, contractors, distributors, and manufacturers' representatives.
  • Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, bills of material, schedules, and technical project documentation.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting quotations, pricing, negotiations, project strategy, and competitive positioning.
  • Advanced problem-solving, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Strong project and opportunity management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing functions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, follow-through, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including [insert checks], and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience supporting Data Center, Semiconductor, EV/Battery, Advanced Manufacturing, or other Mega Project verticals.
  • Experience with commercial construction, industrial facilities, critical infrastructure, or mission-critical applications.
  • Familiarity with plumbing, mechanical, hydronic, and HVAC design standards and codes.
  • Experience driving basis-of-design specifications and influencing engineering design decisions.
  • Experience creating and delivering technical training programs.
  • Knowledge of market trends, industry standards organizations, and competitive products within targeted verticals.

Working Conditions

Pay Range


The expected salary range for this position is $126,000 - $147,000 yearly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
