Develops CAD files and CNC programs for countertop manufacturing, optimizing slab layouts, tooling, toolpaths, material yield, and machining efficiency. Interprets technical drawings and GD&T, verifies programs through simulation or testing, prepares shop documentation, and collaborates with sales, design, supervisors, operators, and outsourced programmers to resolve issues and improve processes.

Position Overview
Responsible to work with CAD/CAM software to interpret and develop technical drawings for countertop manufacturing. Creates appropriate CNC programs and instructions which maximize material yield and manufacturing efficiency. Strong material, machine and tooling knowledge is required to apply correct types of tooling and toolpath strategies for successful machining.
Key Responsibilities
• Interpret CAD drawings and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), material and profile selections
• Prepares CAD file for further programing with efficient use of AutoCAD software, including line type and layer management, offsets and reference points
• Prepares geometric layout of countertops on available slabs and remnants using slab layout software for efficiency material use and pleasing design • Develops programs and instructions for CNC equipment, utilizing appropriate CAD/CAM software
• Determines correct cutting tools and speeds, and applies appropriate toolpath sequences for required design
• Prepares and organizes shop paperwork files, including electronic files and printed paperwork and labels
• Checks programming for accuracy and efficiency, using simulations or testing where necessary
• Collaborates with outsourced programming services to ensure smooth processes
• Collaborates with sales/design teams to troubleshoot issues and provide solutions with diplomacy and respect
• Collaborates with Shop Supervisors and Operators to review/resolve programming issues, and improve process efficiencies
• Prioritizes efficiently to meet timelines, works well under pressure to expedite tasks
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD and AlphaCAM (required)
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software platforms, including Raptor (template software) and Slabsmith
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and detailed instructions
• Working knowledge of CNC equipment, tooling, and programming processes
• Experience with Moraware and Slabsmith is an asset
• Strong mathematical, logical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with various software systems and communication tools (Email, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
• Good English communication skills (verbal, written, and reading comprehension)
