The Cloud/Infrastructure Architect is responsible for providing architecture leadership across multiple infrastructure teams.  Work with both IT and Application/Development teams to define their architecture roadmap, solution architecture, detailed design, and hands-on engineering and development.  


Position Summary

Responsibilities may also include vendor relationship management, product evaluations, strategic platform planning, and ensuring alignment with overall DevOps and Cloud strategy. The IT Architect is a technical individual contributor responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of technical solutions within a specific domain or technology area. This role focuses on ensuring technical designs align with established architectural principles, standards, and roadmaps, while also meeting business requirements. The IT Architect acts as a subject matter expert in their assigned area, providing technical guidance and mentorship to development / engineering teams.  

 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborate with business analysts, development and / or engineering teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and architectural designs.  
  • Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions for specific applications, systems, or technology platforms.  
  • Ensure adherence to architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across assigned projects.  
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new technologies and tools within their domain.  
  • Provide technical guidance and support to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.  
  • Conduct design reviews and code walkthroughs to ensure architectural compliance and code quality.  
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks related to solution design and implementation.  
  • Document architectural designs, technical specifications, and system diagrams.  
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends within their area of expertise.  

 

Position Qualifications:

 

  • 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience in a technical discipline.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, Cloud migration, DevOps, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, Organizational Change Management, and focus on business outcomes are desirable.
  • Cloud/Infrastructure performance analysis and tuning experience.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing complex technical solutions within a specific domain (e.g., application, data, infrastructure, security). 
  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language and related frameworks. 
  • Experience with agile development methodologies. 
  • Must have strong presentation, verbal, and written skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • This position works at the Kemper office.

The range for this position is $79500 to $132900. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications and geographics location among other factors. This job is also eligible for our Kemper benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.).
