Overview

GDIT’s Strategy and Performance Group (SPG) is looking for a versatile Communications Specialist to support an array of communications and outreach activities for multiple functional areas of a federal government organization. The successful candidate will work on a team of top-notch professionals to create a wide range of communications messaging and artifacts and welcome the chance to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, distributed work environment.

What you get to do ...

  • Collaborate with technical staff to help translate complex concepts and technical language into content comprehendible by a general audience
  • Conceive and develop print and digital content for internal and external audiences, including in support of outreach events
  • Prepare, edit, and revise presentations, talking points, and other documents
  • Prepare, edit, and revise materials promoting and supporting external events that raise awareness for system users of technical enhancements to program functionalities
  • Execute quick-turn communications tasks for senior leadership
  • Manage and execute multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Develop and execute communications plans designed for specific initiatives
  • Plan, write, and edit content on deadline and to a high standard of quality
  • Adhere to standards and quality-assurance resources such as style guides and federal plain language requirements
  • Plan, schedule, and facilitate meetings on various platforms (in-person, MS Teams, Webex, etc.)

What you need to have ...

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related discipline
  • Required Experience: 7+ years of related experience
  • Security Clearance Level: Current DHS U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) BI Clearance or must have the ability to obtain one
  • Prior security clearance preferred
  • Location: Remote (within the U.S.), plus possible required travel to Ashburn, VA, for quarterly onsite at client site
  • Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required

  • Editorial communications abilities (excellent writing, editing, and content development skills)
  • Strong attention-to-detail mindset
  • Ability to work independently, exhibiting accountability and ownership for assignments and work products
  • Ability to complete assigned work products to a high standard of quality
  • Initiative and eagerness to volunteer for assignments
  • Natural inclination to readily engage in brainstorming and troubleshooting exchanges
  • Team-oriented mindset, including willingness to readily and enthusiastically assist colleagues when needed
  • Experience working in government space
  • Extensive experience writing and editing on deadline for publication
  • Experience conceiving and developing content for print and digital platforms
  • Competency in use of standard office tools (e.g., MS Office suite, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Familiarity and experience adhering to common content standards and quality-assurance resources such as style guides, AP Stylebook, and federal plain language requirements
  • Comfortability working on a distributed team while working remotely
  • Comfortability working in a fast-paced work environment with rapidly shifting priorities

The likely salary range for this position is $68,000 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

GDIT typically provides new employees with 15 days of paid leave per calendar year to be used for vacations, personal business, and illness and an additional 10 paid holidays per year. Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee’s date of hire. The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees. To ensure our employees are able to protect their income, other offerings such as short and long-term disability benefits, life, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness and business travel and accident insurance are provided or available.
