Job Summary

Responsible for managing community affairs programs, sustainability initiatives, corporate donations, and external stakeholder relationships for Vistra and its subsidiaries; includes representing the company with critical local government appointed and elected officials and community leaders, working with external and internal stakeholders to leverage community initiatives, and serving as a media spokesperson for community outreach efforts.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

·Manage community affairs programs, sustainability initiatives, corporate donation requests, and nonprofit sponsorships that address community needs through investments that provide meaningful, direct, and sustainable social benefit and align with Vistra’s priorities.
·Support economic development and incentive strategies, compliance, and long term partnership management. 
·Have thorough working knowledge of Vistra Corporate Giving Policy.
·Firm understanding of the online donations request process for Vistra.
·Command of the various energy sources powering the Vistra fleet including how wholesale power is generated and the locations of all plant sites.
·Firm understanding of how wholesale power is sold by Vistra  retail channels.
·Establish and manage effective partnerships between Vistra and its key stakeholders, including governmental bodies, chambers of commerce, and various civic groups in the communities where we have customers, employees, and business operations. 
·Direct community outreach programs and media events that meet community needs and business priorities; serve as a media spokesperson and effectively communicate the Vistra story; leverage community programs, events, and sponsorships with various internal stakeholders, including Sales, Marketing, and Government Affairs, among others.
·Ensure local elected officials and public stakeholders are knowledgeable regarding company operations, priorities, and key objectives critical to the company’s success.
·Identify and seek to resolve issues that may arise in the communities involving or affecting company operations and the impact or benefit that may result from proposed regulation, legislation, or decisions.
·Serve as a liaison between Community Affairs and various internal stakeholders and employee resource groups, including Energy in Action, Women’s Information Network, and Vistra Veterans, among others.
·As needed, draft news releases, media advisories, social media posts, and internal announcements highlighting community outreach programs, efforts, and achievements; seek positions of prominence for company executives with various nonprofit and community organizations.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

10+ years in community relations or related areas;
2+ years minimum experience in the areas of government, economic development, or public issues communications.
Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills.
Ability to detect issues and correctly interpret and communicate information​
Strong diverse communications, leadership, and management skills​
Ability to advise, negotiate, resolve conflict, and develop solutions reflecting Vistra’s best interest​
Strong knowledge and awareness of community affairs, issues management and economic development
Self-managed overnight travel required​
Knowledge of energy industry and/or competitive businesses​
HS Diploma or equivalency

Key Accountabilities

·Be able to accurately and promptly communicate directly with senior executives, including the CEO, critical information and subject matter expertise they need for effective decision making on important issues.
·Lead on and offsite public information activities, including town halls, open house events, tours, and special programs to ensure the public is knowledgeable regarding company operations, updates, and recent external announcements.
