The Complex Client Billing Manager will be part of the firm’s Complex Client Team and will be responsible for supporting the firm’s largest and most complex clients. In addition, this role will also include assisting in special projects assigned by the Revenue Management Team, including projects aimed at driving efficiencies and improving billing speed and accuracy, and timely collections. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Complex Clients & Special Projects.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee accrual/budget process for designated client portfolio, including extracting and summarizing data for review by partners or designated proxies, and submission to clients as needed.
- Review, implement and ensure client billing guideline compliance, including establishing time and billing rules within designated systems.
- Monitor and follow up on e-billing invoices for designated client portfolio, ensuring timely handling of rejections and reductions, including appeals and following up with clients and partners as necessary to resolve balances.
- Monitor and manage reporting designated client portfolio of any budgets, accruals or alternative fee arrangements (AFA’s), to ensure operation within projected billings and advising partners and Business Operation leadership of significant variances or developments. May require coordination with Rates, Pricing or Financial Reporting teams to ensure effective communication and reporting.
- Assist with the management of client funds for specialized handling and regional compliance in trust accounts, ensuring maintenance within firm requirements.
- Manage Complex Client Billing Analyst workflow and work product as necessary to ensure timely handling of action items and effective performance.
- Produce and maintain process workflow maps and documentation for key processes.
- Prepare reporting and ad hoc analyses for various stakeholders, including client teams, senior management, and other Business Operations leaders.
- Assist in special projects designed to improve processes related to billing, including testing and evaluating new systems, or for system upgrades and enhancements.
- Provide training to other team members as needed and requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in law firm finance or revenue roles.
- Deep knowledge of the law firm revenue cycle, including billing and collections
- Hands-on experience with law firm financial, time entry, and e‑billing systems (e.g., Aderant or Elite; BillBlast, eBilling Hub, or vendor sites); experience with Aderant Onyx a plus
- Strong analytical skills, with advanced Excel proficiency and experience working with large datasets, reporting tools (e.g., SSRS), and databases
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the firm
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

Pay Transparency Range:
Chicago, IL: The anticipated full-time annualized salary range is $130,000 - $170,000
Los Angeles, California, & Washington, D.C.: The anticipated full-time annualized salary range is $135,000-$175,000
San Francisco, California, & New York: The anticipated full-time annualized salary range is $140,000 - $180,000
The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
