Position Summary:

The Content Editor is a member of the Cerity Partners Marketing team reporting to the Head of Content. Their work will focus on two of the firm’s most substantive beats: Central Solutions and Institutional. They will be the day-to-day point of contact for the subject matter experts across those two groups and will be responsible for driving the publishing cadence across written, video, and graphic content.

The work will be split between thought leadership and collateral, and the ideal candidate will treat both as a single editorial operation: sourcing ideas and first drafts from the SMEs, interviewing them, drafting and editing, shepherding the work through stakeholder and compliance review, and feeding the firmwide content calendar so the rest of the organization can plan around it. Some of the content runs on a fixed cadence—quarterly webinars for example—and some of it is opportunistic, driven by markets, regulation, or a partner with something to say.

The ideal candidate is a strong content producer who is genuinely curious about investing, financial planning, and institutional financial management. They should be comfortable sitting across from a partner with twenty years of experience and asking the questions that turn a POV into a strong piece of content. They should have the organization mindset necessary to manage a production pipeline of multiple concurrent pieces, and be comfortable operating in a regulated environment where the details matter.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the Central Solutions and Institutional content beats—from idea sourcing and editorial greenlight, to drafting, review, publication, amplification, and post-publication reporting to feed future improvements.
  • Build and sustain working relationships with various subject matter experts.
  • Lead publication of thought leadership across formats: market and economic commentary, white papers, blogs, videos, graphics, executive bylines, and content supporting the firm’s quarterly webinar program and live events.
  • Write, edit, and lead production of collateral that supports these businesses — one-pagers, capability overviews, presentation content, and materials that support prospect and client conversations.
  • Write the brief as often as you work from one. This role defines what a piece is trying to do, not just how it reads.
  • Translate technical investment and fiduciary concepts into writing that is clear without being simplified, and authoritative without being stiff.
  • Own the production and review process end to end: when necessary collaborate with design and video production resources, traffic work through stakeholder and compliance review to completion.
  • Partner with the Head of Content to maintain the firmwide content calendar, ensuring Central Solutions and Institutional work is visible, sequenced, and planned far enough ahead to be produced well.
  • Contribute to firmwide content work outside the primary beats as team priorities require.
  • Edit and proof to Cerity Partners voice and AP style, and hold that standard on other people’s drafts as well as your own.
  • Catalog and maintain published content, refreshing pieces as markets, regulation, and the firm’s positioning change.
  • Track how the work performs and how it gets used, and grow both over time — volume published, engagement, internal pickup by advisors and institutional teams, and citations in the press.
  • Use AI tools across the content lifecycle — research, drafting, editing, and workflow — while exercising the judgment to apply them responsibly in a regulated environment and to preserve the substance that makes thought leadership worth reading.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of content creation experience, with a portfolio of published work, weighted toward written content, with demonstrated experience in visual media.
  • Demonstrated experience producing substantive content by working through subject matter experts — interviewing, synthesizing, drafting, and getting a busy senior person to engage and stay engaged
  • Working literacy in investments and capital markets: able to read a capital markets outlook deck, timely market commentary, or an investment committee insight and know what matters in it
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to run multiple pieces at different stages simultaneously
  • Experience collaborating across marketing, legal/compliance, and internal business teams in a matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial services. Strong generalists will be considered, but candidates without financial experience should expect to demonstrate their comfort with this subject matter in the interview process.
  • Experience in a regulated industry where legal and compliance review is part of the publishing process
  • Exposure to institutional audiences — nonprofits, endowments and foundations, retirement plan sponsors, or the consultants who advise them
  • Familiarity with content management systems, workflow tools, and content analytics
  • Experience working with, and getting the most out of, AI content generation

Compensation Range:

$95,000 - $115,000
