Own and run a data-driven content strategy that grows organic traffic and pipeline, adapts to AI-driven search, addresses multiple buyer personas, manages AI-assisted production and external contributors, and ships varied content rapidly to support demand generation.

About the Role

We are looking for a Content & Traffic Strategist to report to the VP, Demand Generation within the Marketing department. This person will own the content engine that builds and defends HeroDevs’ category — content is how buyers first discover that EOL open source risk is a named problem, and how they decide HeroDevs understands it best. It’s a strategy-and-execution role, not a writing role: the right person thinks in traffic curves, search intent, and pipeline, and is already adapting to a search landscape where AI Overviews and LLM-driven answers are rewriting how content gets discovered.

Responsibilities

Own the content strategy

  • Build and run a content strategy that drives organic traffic and search visibility — understanding SEO deeply, as a system of intent, authority, and technical fundamentals, not just a checklist.
  • Evolve that strategy for how discovery is changing: structure and publish content that performs in AI-generated search results and LLM answer engines (AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and similar), not just traditional SERPs.
  • Balance demand creation and demand capture — top-of-funnel content that builds category awareness versus bottom-of-funnel content that captures active buying intent — and build a content mix and calendar that serves both motions deliberately.
  • Set editorial priorities using data: traffic, ranking, engagement, and pipeline-influence metrics decide what to double down on, retire, or test next.

Speak to more than one audience

  •  Write and commission content for multiple personas across the buying committee — security leaders, engineering leaders, and procurement — who care about different things and read different content.
  • Adapt tone, format, and channel to the audience without losing a consistent HeroDevs voice.
  •  Partner with product marketing, demand gen, and sales to ensure content maps to how each persona actually buys.

Produce with AI, edit like a pro

  •  Use AI tools as part of the content production workflow — drafting, research, repurposing — to increase output without sacrificing quality.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering subject matter experts to source technical accuracy, validate, and surface the details that make content credible to a technical audience.
  • Act as editor of record: every piece that ships reflects a clear point of view, accurate technical detail, and a voice that sounds like a person who understands the problem, not a model that doesn’t.
  • Manage freelancers, contractors, or agency partners where useful, holding the same editorial bar for their work as your own.

Operate at HeroDevs speed

  •  Move comfortably in a fast-paced, resource-lean environment where priorities shift and good calls are made without waiting for a perfect brief.
  • Ship consistently — blog posts, guides, reports, landing page copy, email, and sales enablement content — on a cadence that keeps pace with a growing pipeline.

Required Qualifications

  • Track record of growing organic traffic and search performance through content, with the ability to explain the SEO mechanics behind the results.
  •  Already adapting content strategy for AI-driven search, with opinions on how AI Overviews and LLM answer engines change what “good content” means — ideally with results to show for it.
  • Understands demand creation versus demand capture and can point to content built for each.
  • Data-driven by habit, not by mandate — looks at the numbers before deciding what to write next, and can back up the calls.
  • Fluent with AI writing and research tools, treating them as leverage rather than a shortcut around editorial judgment; edits ruthlessly.
  • Experience writing for more than one audience, with the ability to shift register without losing voice.
  • Wants a fast-moving environment and is energized, not drained, by ambiguity and a growing to-do list.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience marketing to technical or security-minded buyers.
  • Experience in a B2B SaaS company defining a new category.
