Handler Law, LLP is an internationally recognized firm based in downtown Chicago that focuses on Business & Corporate Law; Private Client Trusts & Estates and Taxation; Philanthropy Law and Tax-Exempt Organizations; serving primarily affluent families, family offices, privately held companies and sports entertainment.

We are seeking an associate with 3-5 years of substantive experience in business transactions, corporate governance and compliance, private equity, securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Candidates should possess superior communication, drafting, writing and research skills, and excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills.
 

Skills/Abilities Desired: 

  • Detail oriented, strong work organization skills, ability to work and problem solve independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – specifically Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of professionalism; ability to act with discretion and tact in all situations
  • Ability to maintain organized electronic and paper records and produce work product in a timely and desirable manner
  • Ability to manage numerous projects in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiating and drafting business agreements
  • Closing private equity and venture capital investment transactions
  • Drafting private placement offerings for small businesses and investment funds
  • Organizing companies, including limited liability companies and corporations and drafting all organizational documents

Requirements

  • JD; candidates with 3-5+ years’ business, financial or tax qualifications (LL.M., CFP, CPA, MBA, MST)
  • Law Review or Business Law Journal experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organization
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a positive and timely manner while producing a high-quality work product

 Salary/Compensation:

  • $140,000.00 - $250,000.00 commensurate upon experience and qualifications
  • Discretionary annual bonus
