We're looking for an intern to join our Origination Credit Risk team! This role focuses specifically on Originations – the critical first line of defense in the lending lifecycle. You will work closely with the team and cross-functional partners to drive data-driven decisions that balance prudent risk management with aggressive growth in a dynamic FinTech environment.
 

What you’ll do at Avant:

• Conduct in-depth analysis of customer segments, assessing risk performance and formulating strategic recommendations for leaderships.

• Support the team in strategy optimization from hypothesis and proposal to implementation and performance tracking

• Monitor and analyze economic and industry trends affecting credit risk.

• Perform comprehensive credit risk analysis for various portfolios.

• Prepare and present detailed risk reports and presentations for senior management.

• You are an Undergraduate student majoring in Finance, Economics, Math, Analytics, or related field

• You have an interest in solving business problems by applying analytical and quantitative skills

• Proficiency in SQL and Python.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

• You are interested in both learning about and contributing to credit policy and strategy development

This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.

Compensation Range:

The base salary range for this job is USD $34 - USD $38/ hour

Employees will be evaluated for any new role at their current level. Employees new to a role typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The posted compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.
