The Data Application Developer designs, builds, deploys, and supports full-stack enterprise applications that use Databricks as the core data, analytics, AI, and workflow execution platform. This role turns governed lakehouse data, SQL assets, forecasting outputs, model results, business rules, and workflow triggers into usable applications for reporting, forecasting, planning, operational control, and business process execution. The role also integrates these applications with enterprise systems such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP Business One, Salesforce, Power BI, Azure services, and other business platforms where application workflows require trusted data, analytics, write-back, automation, or process execution.

This is an end-to-end application delivery role. The person must be able to work from business requirements through UI/UX, application logic, Databricks integration, security, deployment, testing, adoption, support, and iterative enhancement. This role is also responsible for helping hire, coordinate, and manage additional offshore application development support resources to scale capability and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design build, deploy, and support end-to-end enterprise applications on Databricks and Azure, including frontend UX, backend logic, data access, APIs, workflow triggers, monitoring, and release management.• Build Databricks-native or Databricks-integrated applications using Unity Catalog-governed data, Databricks SQL, dashboards, model outputs, Lakeflow Jobs, notebooks, APIs, and AI services.• Develop business applications for reporting, forecasting, planning, operational workflows, approvals, exception handling, data quality remediation, and process automation.• Create user interfaces for planning inputs, forecast overrides, commentary, scenarios, approvals, business rules, control checks, and operational decision support.• Integrate applications with Azure services, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure DevOps CI/CD, REST APIs, Power BI or embedded analytics, workflow automation tools, and enterprise security standards.• Partner with Data Engineering, BI, analytics, and business teams to align application requirements, governed data products, KPI definitions, write-back patterns, semantic logic, and audit needs.• Implement secure write-back and input-management patterns with validation, approval status, user attribution, versioning, auditability, and traceability.• Develop reusable components, templates, documentation, deployment patterns, and standards for enterprise Databricks application delivery.• Support production applications through troubleshooting, performance tuning, enhancement intake, defect resolution, usage monitoring, release management, and adoption improvements.• Build and manage offshore application development support, including work intake, technical direction, delivery standards, code review, backlog execution, quality control, and production support

Example Application Domains• Forecasting and planning applications for demand, revenue, margin, inventory, delivery timing, cash flow, budget inputs, and scenario analysis.• Pricing and commercial application for margin review, discount governance, rebate tracking, cost-to-serve, price impact, and customer profitability.• Inventory application for perpetual inventory, cycle counts, stock movements, variance review, replenishment, stockout risk, and excess inventory.• Operational control application for open orders, late deliveries, purchasing follow-up, billing validation, freight review, and site performance.• Master data and governance application for customer, material, vendor, pricing, product hierarchy, location, financial master data, approvals, exceptions, and audit tracking.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack application development, enterprise internal tools, data application development, analytics application delivery, or related software engineering roles.• Strong hands-on development experience with Python and either JavaScript or TypeScript for production application delivery.• Experience building applications that consume governed data assets, SQL endpoints, APIs, authentication services, workflow engines, and enterprise deployment pipelines.• Experience developing applications on or around Databricks, Azure Databricks, data warehouses, lakehouse platforms, analytics platforms, or cloud-native data application environments.• Ability to design usable business workflows, input forms, review screens, planning interfaces, reporting experiences, and operational decision-support tools.• Strong SQL skills and ability to understand governed data models, KPI logic, reporting requirements, and source-to-output traceability.• Experience with secure application patterns, role-based access, authentication, auditability, error handling, logging, testing, deployment, and production support.• Ability to work directly with business users and technical teams to convert ambiguous process needs into practical, supportable applications.

Preferred Qualifications• Experience with Databricks Apps, Databricks SQL, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows or Lakeflow Jobs, MLflow or Mosaic AI outputs, SQL warehouses, and Databricks workspace development patterns.• Experience with Azure DevOps, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Functions, Azure App Service, Azure API Management, Azure Storage, Key Vault, or related Azure application services.• Experience supporting forecasting, planning, budgeting, operational reporting, workflow automation, or AI-assisted business applications in manufacturing, distribution, finance, supply chain, sales, or service environments.• Experience integrating Power BI, embedded analytics, semantic models, dashboards, application interfaces, and governed reporting outputs.• Experience with secure write-back patterns, approval workflows, audit tables, configuration-driven applications, and enterprise change-control processes.• Exposure to AI/BI, conversational analytics, retrieval-augmented generation, model serving, recommendations, or AI assistant patterns is a plus.
