Job Description
As a key member of the student loans acquisitions team, this position is responsible for managing the core elements of the origination processes. This position should identify and analyze situations that create credit risk, utilize various resources (such as credit reports, score cards, models, risk systems) and also possess strong knowledge of the elements of credit risk.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Possesses strong institutional knowledge about the student loans business, products, tools and associated risks that the business supports
Analyzes and interprets data to make conclusions on complex portfolio credit recommendations
Knowledgeable about risk systems infrastructure including key processes, coverage and data flows in order to identify risk effectively
Identifies issues and outlines scope. Probes beyond symptoms to determine the underlying causes of problems
Uses tools and techniques to effectively identify trends and risks. Create MIS that will help track loss performance and process controls.
Perform detailed analysis for complex credit recommendations to ensure appropriate risk/reward balance, including contract analysis and negotiations
Review problem areas and establishes effective action plans to mitigate risks specific to product/markets.
Communicates findings of analysis to business managers
Discover promotes a risk-aware culture and ensures efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes
Skills
Bachelors Degree (Masters degree preferred)
1-2 years of relevant credit risk management analytics experience in consumer lending
1 - 2 (+) years SAS, SQL, Teradata experience.
Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
