Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic tech savvy tax professional to help shape and influence CNA’s tax function in the future. This position shall manage operational effectiveness throughout the tax life cycles by improving tax data quality, enhancing data analytics, providing process and technology based solutions to complex business requirements, leveraging technology resources to increase executional efficiencies, and partnering with stakeholders to strengthen end-to-end processes. Additionally, this role will help ensure compliance of the income tax life cycle on insurance financial statements and management reports and participate in tax planning and modeling projects. This role has direct reports to support the achievement of operational outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to partner with tax leadership on strategy and execution and will have visibility and exposure to other senior leaders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Oversee and ensure the maintenance and sustainability of the Corptax AIT provision solution for the federal income tax processes.
2. Determine methodologies to efficiently extract and transform federal income tax data for review and analytics.
3. Ensure the federal income tax data effectively supports tax planning and modeling projects, as necessary.
4. Lead the deployment of new Corptax AIT capabilities and ensure efficient operational integration.
5. Anticipate and lead future enhancements of the Corptax AIT solution for tax accounting purposes. Determine the project scope, execution plan, budget and resources; manage objectives and communicate results to Tax Leadership.
6. Lead key discussions and influence vendors, business stakeholders and IT partners to resolve tax issues and pursue automation solutions.
7. Oversee the application of small automation across the Division to increase process efficiencies.
8. Advise on the feasibility of technology solutions for non-income tax processes. Partner with the tax technical team(s) to review process efficiencies, determine automation scoping and suggest practical solutions.
9. Partner with the Tax Accounting and Reporting team to support the accounting and reporting of insurance based statutory taxes throughout the tax life cycle.
10. Collaborate with Tax Leadership on the statutory tax impacts of key significant transactions and modeling projects.
11. Partner with peers and Tax Leadership to drive operational improvements and meet organizational objectives.
12. Deliver professional and timely services to internal and external customers.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Dedicated corporate tax professional with insurance tax accounting experience.
2. Fascination of technology and desire to explore the unknown.
3. Ability to operate in the grey and execute without a clear playbook.
4. Ability to evaluate and execute effectively in a fluid environment.
5. Ability to identify data requirements to support tax accounting, compliance and strategy.

8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate tax technology requirements in a simplified manner.
9. Ability to influence tax, IT and business professionals.
Education and Experience
1. Minimum of ten years of public accounting or industry corporate tax experience. Tax accounting and insurance experience are highly preferred.
2. Minimum of three to five years of tax technology exposure, ideally as a technology administrator. Corptax software experience is a plus.
3. Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Master of Science in Taxation degree is a plus.
4. Certified Public Accountant designation.
