Job Description:
The Residential MBS Analyst position fulfills a vital role within the NAV Arbitrage group, helping to provide the real-time risk and pricing information necessary to detect inefficiencies across the spectrum of publicly traded Mortgage REIT funds. Long-term growth opportunities are available as part of the broader team, whether in a wider analyst role or further downstream (i.e. trade execution). Strong candidates will possess an array of skills spanning financial statement analysis, MBS market conventions and valuation techniques, and meticulous organizational habits.
Responsibilities:
- Construct and maintain in-depth models of Mortgage REITS using 10-K and 10-Q statements
- Curate real-time data feeds with relevant MBS pricing information for interim "real time" balance sheet models
- Translate model balance sheet information into common portfolio risk factors
- Work with technology team to streamline existing Excel process, promote to proprietary software
- Work with trading team to maintain asset- and issuer-level trading engine parameters
- Suggest and assist in implementation of TBA overlay and interest rate hedges
Skills and Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of research/analysis experience in MBS market
- Strong proficiency in Excel
- Knowledge of Bloomberg MBS-related functions
- Coursework (MBA, CFA Level 1) or equivalent practical experience in financial accounting or financial statement analysis
- Awareness of REIT and Mortgage REIT corporate structure
- Background in MBS trading conventions and execution beneficial
