Job Description
TITLE: Lead Database Engineer
DUTIES: DFS Corporate Services LLC seeks Lead Database Engineer in Riverwoods, IL to support activities related to database administration and systems development support. Analyze and implement the physical model of the database within established standards, ensuring the best performance. Support multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds, and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data. Work on multiple projects simultaneously. Monitor databases for performance degradation, connectivity issues, system events and alerts. Update and manage tickets through resolution with vendors and internal support groups. Test, analyze, perform corrective actions, and restore availability and services in a timely and accurate manner to eliminate/reduce application impact. Provide timely notifications to management/outage team and escalate tickets to appropriate internal and external management as needed. Perform scheduled changes (patching, maintenance, deployment, decommission, configuration, and performance tuning) for all hardware and software used to support the database infrastructure. Participate with infrastructure and application teams regarding project work, POCs and/or troubleshooting exercises. Participate in pager rotation to provide 24x7 support for all database system environments (Prod, Test, and Development). Promote a risk-aware culture to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: supporting database and information technology platforms; performing database upgrades, migration, and patching; working with Shell Scripting/Automation; utilizing replication for reporting and disaster recovery; supporting database disaster recovery, high availability, and backups; and working with Data Management Systems. In the alternative, employer will accept a Master’s degree in the above-listed fields and two (2) years of experience in the above-listed areas.
