Position Description
The Vice President of Data Management will be responsible for engaging with senior leadership within technology and across Discover to understand data needs and deliver best-in-class solutions to drive business results. This executive will create multi-year road maps that leverage cloud based technology platforms to rethink and improve how we use data to support our clients and customers.
This leader will establish clear and practical data practices for project implementations and create standardized approaches to data intake and processing while supporting flexibility of businesses. In addition, we are seeking an executive to lead a high-performing team focused on continuous improvement and challenging the status quo.
Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership across the enterprise to understand and manage data needs and develop the vision and roadmap to provide innovative solutions
- Create and deliver next generation capabilities around analysis, reporting, data engineering and business intelligence tools.
- Build a modern data environment focused on delivering information to the business and leveraging sound governance, tools, and technology.
- Partner with business stakeholders and IT while serving as a trusted advisor on new trends and best practices for data management.
- Manage and control costs associated with collecting, managing and sharing data while growing the value of the data organization.
- Advance emerging data product features for artificial intelligence, machine learning and advance analytics in partnership with various analytics and technology groups.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a talented team of data professionals while driving towards a proactive stance as we build best-in-class data assets across key data domains.
- Attract, recruit and lead the industry’s best talent and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure we are developing the appropriate data assets based on the highest value business use cases.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 15+ years’ of experience as a technologist, ideally with specialization in data engineering, platform engineering, solution architecture.
- 10+ years’ experience with analytics, business intelligence, and/or data science.
- Proven ability to set enterprise level data capabilities, applying an in-depth understanding of the business strategy while enabling adoption of enterprise assets.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor and lead teams to success.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree or PhD.
- Financial Service industry experience.
- Proven ability to champion an idea and bring a group to consensus.
- 5+ years of Agile engineering experience.
- 5+ years of experience with Cloud computing.
- Consulting or product background.
