Summary: A Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization’s databases so data is available, accurate, and protected
Core Responsibilities
  • Install & configure databases (e.g., Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Monitor performance and optimize queries for speed and efficiency
  • Backup & recovery: Ensure data can be restored after failures
  • Security management: Control user access and prevent unauthorized access
  • Troubleshooting: Fix database issues, crashes, or slowdowns
  • Upgrades & patches: Keep systems up to date
  • Data integrity: Ensure accuracy and consistency of stored data
Key Skills
  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Understanding of database design and data modeling
  • Experience with performance tuning and indexing
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge of backup tools, security practices, and disaster recovery
