The Director – Data Program & Governance Management is a key leadership role responsible for driving the execution of programs within the enterprise data portfolio and maturing core data governance operating practices. This position is focused 60% on program management, where the Director will coordinate and manage complex, cross-functional projects across the data team to ensure disciplined delivery. The remaining 40% is focused on data governance, where the Director will actively work to implement and shore up data governance frameworks, standards, and processes to improve data quality and compliance.
This role requires a leader who can translate strategy into actionable plans, manage budgets and timelines, and effectively communicate progress and risks to leadership.

Position is based in Schaumberg, IL and will work hybrid.

Pay Range: $170,000-$190,000 base salary + 20% AIP

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

ResponsibilitiesProgram Management & Execution (60% Focus)
  •   Drive the planning and execution of key programs and projects within the data portfolio.

  •   Develop and manage integrated program plans, roadmaps, and timelines, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

  •   Coordinate cross-functional teams across the data organization to ensure predictable delivery and measurable outcomes.

  •   Proactively identify, track, and mitigate risks, dependencies, and roadblocks to keep programs on track.

  •   Prepare and deliver clear program status reporting and dashboards for leadership, providing visibility into progress, risks, and value realization.

Data Governance Operations (40% Focus)
  •   Implement and mature data governance operating practices, policies, and standards in partnership with data stewards and business leaders.

  •   Drive initiatives focused on improving core data governance capabilities, including data quality, metadata management, and data lineage.

  •   Facilitate governance forums and working groups to ensure data governance standards are understood and embedded into program execution.

  •   Act as a key partner to IT and business teams to ensure regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., data security, privacy) are met.

Financial Management & Executive Communications
  •   Manage and monitor program budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and alignment of spend to strategic priorities.

  •   Partner with finance to track value realization, cost savings, and return on investment for major initiatives.

  •   Compile and prepare clear, concise presentation materials for senior leadership forums that translate complex program updates into actionable insights.

QualificationsEducation & Certifications
  •   Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Data Management, Computer Science, or related field).

  •   PMP or PgMP certification is strongly preferred.

  •   Master’s degree, CDMP, or related certifications are a plus.

Work Experience
  •   8–12+ years of experience in program or project management, with a demonstrated history of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.

  •   Proven success in managing programs within a data, analytics, or technology-focused environment.

  •   Experience implementing or improving governance frameworks and operating models.

  •   Experience managing program budgets, financial forecasting, and cost tracking.

  •   Track record of preparing and delivering clear communications for senior leadership.

Skills & Competencies
  •   Strong experience with program and portfolio management methodologies, governance, and execution frameworks.

  •   Solid financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and track value.

  •   Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.

  •   Strong organizational skills with an ability to translate strategy into tangible execution plans.

  •   Proficiency with program management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira) and presentation software (PowerPoint).

  •   A collaborative leader comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements
  •   Ability to travel up to 15-20%, as needed.

  •   Flexibility to support key initiatives outside core hours when required.
