Job Title: Director of Cloud Software Engineering

SUMMARY
The Director of Cloud Software Engineering leads the design, development, deployment, operation and maintenance of cloud-native software platforms and applications. This role is responsible for managing engineering teams, defining cloud development strategy, defining code development CI/CD process, driving architectural excellence, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, security, and performance of cloud-based solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the definition and execute the organization’s cloud software engineering roadmap.
- Establish engineering best practices, coding standards/review, and development methodologies.
- Drive innovation in cloud-native application development and modernization initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with business goals.
- Partner with business leads and IT business analysts to support development of functional requirements.
- Build and maintain a high-performance engineering culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Working collaboratively with IT CSV and IT business analysts to support computer system validation/assurance activities.
- Lead and mentor multiple organizational teams.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
- Conduct performance evaluations, career development planning, and succession planning.
- Manage resource allocation, budgeting, vendor relationships, and work with ACM PMO to manage project prioritization and resourcing.
- Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and technical excellence.
- Oversee the architecture, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scalable cloud applications and platforms.
- Guide adoption of microservices, containerization, serverless computing, and API-driven architecture.
- Ensure applications are designed for high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability.
- Lead modernization efforts for legacy systems migrating to cloud environments.
- Drive automation across CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment processes.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of applications using ACM’s development environment.
- Provide technical leadership in public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Ensure adherence to cloud security, compliance, governance, and operational best practices.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to implement secure-by-design architecture.
- Monitor emerging technologies and recommend strategic adoption where appropriate.
- Establish performance metrics and KPIs for engineering productivity, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Partner with product owners and IT business analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Collaborate with DevOps, QA, Data Engineering, Enterprise Architecture teams, IT Security and IT CSV teams.
- Communicate technical strategy and project status to executive stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10 years of cloud software engineering experience.
- 4+ years leadership of cloud software development and related teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience in staff development and engagement.
- Strong experience designing and building cloud-native applications.
- Deep experience utilizing the following software development architectures and tools:
- React
- Node.Js
- Java
- Python
- Azure Development Toolkit
- GitHub
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server,
- Hands-on expertise with one or more cloud platforms:
- Microsoft Azure / App Services / Azure AD / DevSec tools
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) – Development tools
- Experience with:
- Microservices architecture
- Kubernetes and container orchestration
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- RESTful APIs and distributed systems
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
- Experience leading Agile/Scrum software development teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

$165,000.00 - $195,000.00CITY:

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
