The Director, Finance & Business Operations serves as a strategic business partner to commercial leadership, driving profitable growth through disciplined pricing, financial stewardship, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making. This role leads commercial operations, forecasting, governance, and performance management while ensuring strong financial controls and scalable business processes. The ideal candidate combines financial expertise, commercial acumen, and change leadership to influence outcomes, improve organizational capabilities, and support executive decision-making across the business.

What You Will Do 

  • Commercial Operations Execution
    • Lead end-to-end pricing strategy, optimize deal flow and cycle times, and serve as the escalation point for complex pricing decisions.
    • Lead partner programs, rebates, and incentive structures across channels and distributors, ensuring alignment and consistent adoption.
    • Lead sales reporting and analytics by ensuring data accuracy, enhancing reporting tools, and delivering insights that enable data-driven decision-making across sales teams.
    • Own pricing, rebate, and reporting systems, partnering with IT to drive enhancements while ensuring scalability, governance, and business alignment.
  • Financial Stewardship & Performance Management
    • Lead commercial forecasting and planning processes, including monthly and quarterly forecasts, AOP development, and long-range planning, ensuring alignment between sales expectations and financial targets.
    • Deliver business performance analysis, providing executive leadership with actionable insights, recommendations, and clear explanations of key performance drivers.
    • Ensure financial integrity and compliance by maintaining strong internal controls, adhering to accounting policies and standards, and supporting audit requirements.
    • Foster high-level of accountability through fair, hard-hitting performance management.
  • Governance, Decision Support, & Risk Management
    • Establish and enforce commercial governance frameworks, pricing guardrails, and decision rights to ensure compliance with financial, legal, and profitability objectives.
    • Serve as the final decision authority for complex pricing, rebate, distributor, and non-standard commercial matters, resolving disputes and approving exceptions as needed.
    • Review commercial agreements and advise Legal and Sales on financial and contractual implications, identifying risks related to pricing, rebates, and contract terms.
  • Strategic Business Partnering
    • Provide deal structuring and advisory support to Sales, driving margin protection and profitable growth while guiding trade-offs between growth, pricing, and profitability.
    • Support executive decision-making by framing commercial choices with clear scenarios, risks, and trade-offs, and delivering actionable insights to the CFO and senior leadership.
    • Act as a cross-functional connector across Sales, Product, Finance, and Supply Chain to resolve deadlocks, accelerate decision-making, and influence outcomes.
  • Change Leadership & Capability Building
    • Lead the adoption of frameworks, tools, and commercial processes to drive consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement in the operating model.
    • Influence behavior change across Sales and commercial teams while elevating financial and pricing acumen across the organization.
    • Partner with Managing Directors and Finance Operations peers to align strategies, streamline processes, and improve enterprise-wide execution.
    • Understand key business drivers, proactively seek out opportunities, and recommend solutions.

What You Will Bring 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or economics required; MBA preferred.  
  • Finance Experience: 12-15 years of broad finance and business experience with commercial operations, pricing, and cross-functional decision making.
  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years in a Sr Manager or Director role with proven ability to lead a team, drive change, develop team skills, and positively impact morale.
  • Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to convey financial messages to senior leadership in a succinct, compelling manner. Strong customer focus with the ability to manage expectations and solve disputes.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work within a global, matrix organization and handle shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Handles pressure well and meets deadlines consistently.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 20% in North America region.

Compensation: The expected annual base salary range for this role is $200,000 - $230,000. This role qualifies for an incentive plan based on individual and company performance. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
