POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Finance is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial operations and reporting.   

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Research, maintain and implement financial accounting systems, software, and business processes.
•    Manage financial reporting, state and regulatory compliance filings.
•    Direct the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with statutory accounting practices.
•    Monitor and analyze department work to develop efficient procedures and use of resources to enhance the workflows of the department. 
•    Manage hiring, training, counseling, termination and performance appraisals of Accounting personnel.
•    Advise Accounting department staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
•    Support the Vice President - Finance with special projects, workflow process improvements, and various operations matters
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (DIRECTOR) – FINANCIAL ANALYTICS 
•    Serve as Data Governance lead for financial data. 
•    Manage the budgeting and forecasting process. 
•    Develop and maintain key performance metrics. 
•    Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. 
•    Develop and deliver reporting for Executive leadership team, Board, and other stakeholders. 
•    Develop strategies for analyzing metrics to identify trends, processes, and system opportunities and recommend action. 
•    Work with business units and IT to address specific financial data and reporting issues and requirements. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The individual in this position must meet the following general requirements:
•    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting. 
•    MBA, CPA, CFA or other advanced financial credential preferred. 
•    7 to 10 years of experience in a senior level finance or accounting position. 
•    Knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulations. 
•    Microsoft Suite experience required. Advanced Excel and Word skills required, including power query
•    Advanced proficiency in SQL and business intelligence (BI) dashboard tools, including experience with refactoring existing queries. (Director – Financial Analytics) 
•    Duck Creek Insurance suite system (including Clarity, Snowflake) experience preferred. 
•    Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
