The Impact of Director of Global Payrollat Coupa:
The impact of this role is to ensure Coupa’s global workforce is supported through accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across all regions. By driving automation, optimizing vendor partnerships, and strengthening controls, this leader will enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and enable seamless alignment with Finance, HR, and Legal to support Coupa’s growth.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead global payroll operations across multiple countries, ensuring timely, accurate processing for all employees.
  • Manage payroll accounting, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Drive automation and process improvements to optimize payroll systems and enhance efficiency.
  • Oversee and consolidate third-party payroll providers, managing SLAs and vendor relationships.
  • Utilize technical skills (e.g., SQL, Snowflake) to oversee the build and maintain of payroll data automations.
  • Lead and develop a global payroll team, while ensuring compliance with global payroll regulations.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Legal to align on policies while managing audits, SOX compliance, and payroll KPI's

What You'll Bring To Coupa:

  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 5+ years leading global payroll operations across multiple regions (EMEA, APAC, LATAM, North America).
  • Deep expertise in payroll regulations, tax laws, compliance, payroll accounting
  • Hands-on systems knowledge, including payroll/accounting/banking platforms (e.g., Dayforce, NetSuite, ActivPayroll, JPM), integrations, and advanced Google suite and Excel skills.
  • Technical capability in SQL and data warehousing concepts (Snowflake preferred), with a track record of driving automation and process improvements.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience building, mentoring, and leading high-performing global teams.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict-resolution abilities, with a focus on stakeholder management and discretion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (CPA and/or CPP preferred).
