About the role
 
We are seeking a Director of HR to join our team. This person will be responsible for managing and overseeing all HR functions, including benefits administration, performance management, HR compliance, Immigration, compensation benchmarking, on/off-boarding, and PTO management. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented, have a comprehensive understanding of HR policies and procedures, are comfortable working in a fast-paced ambiguous environment, and have prior experience mentoring/managing people. 
 
**This position is on-site 5 days / week based out of our Chicago office**

How you'll spend your time:

  • Manage the day-to-day work of the HR operations team, performing operational duties required to keep the process running consistently. 
  • Manage benefits, PTO, compliance and other HR operations needs for employees and contractors. 
  • Provide day to day HR Ops support including troubleshooting issues and serving as the escalation point for process and systems issues. 
  • Understand how BrightEdge operates and apply that knowledge to all aspects of people-related strategy, programs, and practices. 
  • Scale existing processes for growth and innovation based on business needs. 
  • Redefine employee experience and overall operating model, powered by data, trends and insights 
  • Manage employee on-boarding and off-boarding processes; identify and administer tools/systems that support rapid scale and growth 
  • Identify and implement innovative HR policies, programs and procedures to be used in engagement, performance evaluation, recognition, compensation, and promotion processes 
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state programs. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Recruiting, Payroll, Facilities, IT, Accounting, Legal and other teams to create programs that impact all employees and offices 
  • Handle domestic and international immigration needs. 

What you'll bring:

  • 8+ years’ experience in an HR and/or People OperationsExperience at a high growth Tech/SaaS company 
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business administration, or related field 
  • Approachable, adaptable, resourceful and a strong communicator; comfortable communicating upward 
  • Experience presenting on complex cross-functional projects and processes driving results 
  • Experience with Google Drive/Apps, Microsoft Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), HRIS Systems (Ultipro/UKG a plus), and ATS systems (Lever) 
  • Experience implementing people programs including performance feedback, rewards & recognition, wage & hour compliance 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a deep sense of empathy and ability to communicate across diverse groups 
  • Proven track record handling confidential information with discretion 
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
