In this role, you will ensure our cloud infrastructure is highly available, scalable, and secure to support mission-critical media processing services. You will drive infrastructure uptime and reliability, develop automation tools, and guide next-generation operations across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
This is a strategic leadership position that also requires deep technical expertise; 50% collaboration with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Design, etc.) to align infrastructure initiatives with product goals and 50% people management.

This is a full-time remote position in the media technology industry, offering the opportunity to shape the cloud platform that powers Telestream’s innovative video solutions.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Reliability: Ensure the stability, uptime, and performance of Telestream’s cloud infrastructure and services. Proactively monitor system health and implement best practices to achieve high availability and resiliency.
  • Automation & Tooling: Develop and continuously improve internal tools and frameworks for automation. Streamline infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and monitoring processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Multi-Cloud Operations: Build and oversee next-generation operations across AWS, GCP, and Azure environments. Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) to provision and manage cloud resources in a consistent, scalable manner.
  • Collaboration & Architecture: Collaborate closely with software engineering and DevOps teams to design, implement, and refine the infrastructure that underpins our backend services and systems. Ensure new and existing services are architected for scalability, security, and easy maintenance.
  • On-Call & Incident Response: Participate in and lead our on-call rotation, responding to production issues and critical incidents. Drive rapid incident resolution, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve overall system reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Product Management, Design, and other Engineering leaders to support product initiatives. Align infrastructure roadmaps with product roadmaps, ensuring that infrastructure requirements (capacity, tooling, security) are accounted for in new features and launches.
  • Security & Best Practices: Champion best practices in security, compliance, and operational excellence. Work with security teams to implement robust protections for data and services, and foster a culture of reliability and performance in all infrastructure operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing distributed (remote) teams. Proven ability to mentor engineers, set clear goals, and build a strong team culture in a geographically dispersed environment.
  • Technical Depth & Strategy: Ability to dive deep into technical details while also operating at a strategic, organizational level. You can review architecture designs or debug issues, and equally contribute to high-level technology strategy and planning.
  • Talent Development: A track record of recruiting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent in a competitive market. You excel at building high-performing teams and supporting the growth of individual team members.
  • Agility & Clarity: Thrives in environments with high ambiguity and rapid change. Capable of bringing clarity to undefined problems and maintaining focus on execution. Adaptable and calm under pressure, with strong problem-solving skills in dynamic situations.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Expertise: Deep experience with AWS (using services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and EKS). Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure) is a plus. Hands-on skills in containerization (Docker) and orchestration with Kubernetes are required.
  • Infrastructure as Code & DevOps: Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform for automating cloud deployments. Strong understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines – able to design and maintain continuous integration and delivery workflows for cloud services.
  • Observability & Monitoring: Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability tooling to keep systems healthy. Familiarity with tools such as the Elastic Stack (ELK), Prometheus, or similar solutions for tracking system performance and reliability is desired.
  • Operational Excellence: Care deeply about security, reliability, and operational excellence as first-class priorities. Demonstrated commitment to incorporating security best practices and rigorous testing in infrastructure changes. Experience running 24/7 production environments and instituting effective on-call and incident management processes.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Domain Knowledge (Bonus): Experience in the digital media, video streaming, or broadcast industry is a plus. An understanding of media workflows or video processing pipelines will help you quickly grasp Telestream’s core domain.
