Job Summary The Director of the Portfolio Management Office within Enterprise Business Operations is a senior leadership role accountable for driving enterprise-wide transformation through a strategically managed portfolio of programs and projects. Reporting to the Vice President, Transformation, this position focuses on program management excellence, shared services optimization, and global business frameworks to deliver standardized processes, digital innovation, and measurable business value. The Director ensures alignment with enterprise objectives, provides governance and prioritization, optimizes resources, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Leading Program Managers and Project Managers, this role guarantees consistent delivery and strong stakeholder engagement across multiple functions and geographies. What you'll do • Portfolio Governance & Strategy: Build and maintain a portfolio management framework to drive enterprise-wide initiatives; ensure transparency, prioritization, and effective decision-making. • Leadership & Talent Development: Lead and mentor Program Managers and Project Managers; develop talent through coaching, capability building, and succession planning. • Transformation Oversight: Manage initiatives that advance operational excellence and GBS maturity, integrating service, operations, and transformation pillars. • Change Management: Embed change management practices into portfolio delivery to ensure adoption of new processes and technologies. • Financial & Performance Management: Track portfolio budgets and performance metrics to optimize value and impact. • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks across programs and projects to ensure successful outcomes. • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate progress and value to executive stakeholders; build strong cross-functional relationships. • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation through automation, analytics, and best practices to enhance service delivery. Minimum basic requirements • Bachelor's degree in business administration, project/program management, or related field. • PMP certification required; PgMP or SAFe certification is a plus, with deep expertise in portfolio methodologies and change management frameworks (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR). • 10+ years of Program/Portfolio management experience, specifically supporting large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives within a Global Business Services (GBS) or Fortune 500 environment. • 5+ years of people leadership experience, with a proven ability to mentor Program and Project Managers in a complex, matrixed environment. • Agile, hands-on leadership style with a focus on accountability and results. • Ability to align portfolio scope with Enterprise Business Operations objectives, driving global integration, process standardization, and digital transformation. • Strong financial acumen with a track record of building governance structures, tracking milestones, and managing investment/ROI to link portfolio outcomes to business value. • Deep understanding of Lean/Six Sigma, analytics, and digital enablement (AI/ML) to foster innovation and continuous improvement within global operations. • Exceptional communication and influencing skills to synthesize complex transformation stories, engage executive stakeholders, and drive adoption. • Ability to interpret and present portfolio health using Power BI or similar analytics dashboards for C-suite reporting. Preferred skills, experience, and qualities needed • MBA or MS in Project/Program Management • PgMP or SAFe certification • Advanced management credentials (e.g., CCMP, Prosci). • Advanced GBS Certifications from recognized GBS bodies. • Advanced proficiency in enterprise Project Portfolio Management (PPM) platforms such as ServiceNow SPM or Jira Align.\ About CDW We make technology work so people can do great things.
