Position Summary

The Director, Portfolio Management is responsible for facilitating the prioritization and management of cross-functional projects and programs throughout RT Specialty. These projects may be both technical and non-technical in nature. The Director, Portfolio Management serves as a facilitator and helps business areas achieve organizational goals by supporting internal processes and promoting enterprise collaboration to prioritize and select the optimal mix of project initiatives to achieve these results. Additionally, the Director, Portfolio Management is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the assigned Portfolio in relation to the Project Management Office (PMO) standards.

What will your job entail?

  • Working with RT Specialty leaders, develop and manage the strategic project portfolio displaying a thorough understanding of the long-term goals and utilizing thought leadership to ensuring success.
  • Effectively manage the portfolio roadmap by tracking project timelines, managing risks, issues and mitigation plans, resource allocation, and project budgets.
  • Work with project managers to develop monthly and quarterly project review. Engage with and communicate to senior business executives.  Provide insight and suggestions to resolve or escalate issues and dependency conflict.
  • Develop and support Corporate PMO governance standards by using standard templates and driving best practices and insuring consistency and adherence to governance standards across all projects.
  • Engage with senior leadership and project sponsors to ensure that projects are staffed with the necessary talent as demanded by the project lifecycle
  • Report portfolio performance and achievement of key results to the executive leadership team.
  • Execute a best-in-class project intake and triage process inclusive of annual demand planning and continued refinement throughout the year
  • Supervise a team of project managers, coaching junior members, providing performance reviews and helping remove impediments from their projects.
  • May require hands on project management of specific high profile or complicated projects.

  Education/Experience/Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field is required; may also have an advanced degree.
  • Minimum 7+ years of project management experience that includes successful delivery of large, complex, projects spanning both business processes and technology solutions required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years in a portfolio manager role required.
  • PMP certification is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills, and experience with managing senior stakeholders.
  • Significant analytical expertise that enables you to measure the impact of your projects and programs to facilitate data-driven decision-making and “out of the box” solutions.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and motivated to take the driver’s seat when roles and responsibilities are not clearly defined.
  • Strong communication skills that allow you to manage potential conflicts, by easily deescalating them with your tact.
  • Must enjoy performing in an invigorating, fast-paced, intellectually intense, service-oriented environment and managing tight timelines and deliverables across multiple projects and teams while staying true to RT Specialty’s values and culture.
  • Must be a team player, goal and detail-orientated individual who likes variety and works effectively with little oversight.

The target salary range for this position is $128,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
