Location/Division Specific Information

The Sales Director-Industrial Segment works in the Customer Channels Group (CCG). CCG serves academic, pharmaceutical, biotech, government, and industrial customers. It provides products made by our company and others from top suppliers worldwide. We offer a single source for nearly every laboratory need. This includes lab equipment, instruments, consumables, chemicals, life science products, safety supplies, and science education products. Our goal is to help customers focus on their important work.

This role may be based remotely anywhere in the Midwestern or Eastern United States. Travel will be frequent, particularly up front, ranging overall between 50-75%

How will you make an impact?

The Industrial Sales Director is responsible for managing accounts with customers of approximately $1 Million or greater potential. They ensure market penetration and profitability while achieving sales and profit goals. The Director leads account development activities such as strategy management, ongoing value communication, resource coordination, price management, and initiating RFP responses when appropriate. They lead several segment-specific customers.

What will you do?

  • Drive corporate relationships by understanding customer life cycle and contract timeframes
  • Coordinates needs and opportunity assessments across locations
  • Measures customer happiness and develops strategies to improve
  • Drives the Request for Proposal process
  • Coordinates and communicates business development initiatives and strategies
  • Identifies target profitability, terms and conditions
  • Develops and leads the account strategy and implementation plan
  • Conducts business reviews with customers
  • Provides direction to managers/sales representatives on expectations for servicing accounts
  • Drive market share improvement and identify standard marketing programs/promotions relevant to customers
  • Evaluate customer performance for contract compliance

How will you get here?

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • MBA preferred (or equivalent experience in lieu of an MBA)
Experience
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience; strong background in science and the specific industry segment
  • Proven ability to maintain and grow senior level customer relationships across multiple areas like Sourcing, Production, Research, Materials Management
  • Proven sales record with experience leading multiple accounts.
  • Experience forecasting and preparing a budget
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong financial analysis, negotiation, and project management skills
  • Strong leadership skills in a matrix environment
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a must; contact management software a plus

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $155,000.00–$232,500.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
