Lumen delivers rigorous portfolio analysis, creates transparent competition among top developers, and provides white-glove service throughout. Our efficient, technology-backed approach gives our customers clarity, confidence, and reliable returns—scaling clean energy without added complexity.

Join us on our mission to profitably decarbonize buildings.

The Role

We’re hiring a Director, Business Development to drive the next chapter of Lumen’s growth. You’ll lead high-stakes enterprise deals from first call to close, shape Lumen’s go-to-market strategy and influence our product roadmap along the way.

You’ll be the face of Lumen to some of the most sophisticated players in real estate, private equity, and clean energy — acting as a trusted advisor who can deeply understand their business, navigate complex sales motions, and bring high-value projects over the finish line.

We are a remote first company, with quarterly offsites.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and exceed quarterly and annual bookings targets

  • Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders in real estate and investment firms

  • Lead full-cycle sales efforts: prospecting, discovery, proposal development, contracting, and onboarding

  • Develop and refine go-to-market strategies in collaboration with product, operations, and marketing

  • Identify trends in customer needs and translate insights into product feedback

  • Support conferences, marketing campaigns, and other demand gen activities

  • Represent Lumen with professionalism, clarity, and confidence in external settings

  • Maintain CRM rigor and sales pipeline discipline

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of B2B sales or business development experience, preferably selling to enterprise real estate or private equity clients

  • Proven success leading complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes

  • Fluency in real estate or infrastructure finance (NPV, IRR, NOI, cap rates, etc.)

  • Strong commercial instincts and creativity in structuring deals

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • High EQ and ability to build trust with a diverse group of stakeholders

  • Bias for action and entrepreneurial energy — you're comfortable building as you go

  • Willingness to travel as needed for key meetings and events

Why Lumen?

  • Mission with urgency: You’ll help decarbonize the built environment — one of the biggest levers in the fight against climate change

  • High impact: This is a key role in a fast-growing company

  • Exceptional team: Work alongside former leaders and builders from top-tier companies

  • Growth environment: We support your career goals and personal development

  • Competitive compensation: Includes base salary, variable commission, equity, and full benefits

Lumen Energy is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive workplace. US work authorization required. We are unable to sponsor H1B visas at this time.
