Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security, and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.

The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build, and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

Mozilla Finance is the engine behind our mission. We balance strategic resource allocation with seamless day-to-day operations to fuel Mozilla’s growth. As we look to the future, our Strategic Finance & Corporate Development team ensures we are positioned to capitalize on industry shifts, manage our capital sustainably, and evaluate ecosystem opportunities that align with a better, more ethical internet for everyone.

About this Team and Role:

We are seeking a Director of Strategic Finance & Direct Investments to join our Finance leadership team. This is a high-impact, visionary leadership role reporting directly to the VP of Finance.

In this capacity, you will serve as a key architect of Mozilla’s long-term financial future. You will sit at the intersection of corporate strategy, strategic partnerships, and forward-looking financial planning. You will lead a small, elite team of finance professionals tasked with translating Mozilla’s long-term vision into rigorous financial models, evaluating market sizes, monitoring our investment portfolio, and collaborating across our subsidiaries to track broader industry shifts.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned financial leader who possesses a blend of deep macroeconomic insight, advanced strategic framing capabilities, and a proven track record of guiding "build vs. partner" decisions alongside senior executives.

What You’ll Do:
  • Long-Range Strategic Modeling: Own and evolve Mozilla’s 3-to-5-year long-range financial model, translating high-level strategic goals and company vision into actionable financial forecasts.
  • Market Architecture (TAM/SAM/SOM): Conduct rigorous market sizing and segmentation analyses. Define, track, and evaluate our Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Addressable Market (SAM), and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) for both existing products and emerging business lines.
  • Investment Portfolio Monitoring: Oversee the financial performance, health, and strategic alignment of Mozilla’s existing direct investments and venture portfolio, providing regular updates and strategic capitalization recommendations to leadership.
  • Subsidiary & Industry Intelligence: Partner closely with leadership across Mozilla’s diverse subsidiaries to synthesize market insights, identify emerging industry shifts, and assess their financial impact on our long-term vision.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and elevate a small team of high-performing strategic finance professionals, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity, accountability, and analytical rigor.
  • Executive Advisory: Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership and business unit heads, distilling complex strategic data, financial models, and portfolio performance into concise, strategic narratives for board meetings and executive reviews.
  • Build vs. Partner Analysis: Collaborate with Strategy and Product leaders to evaluate the financial viability of internal product development versus strategic commercial partnerships, joint ventures, and ecosystem deals.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in Strategic Finance, Corporate Development, Venture Capital, Corporate Financial Planning, or Management Consulting (ideally with a heavy focus on the technology, SaaS, or consumer internet sectors).
  • People Management: 2+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven track record of developing, mentoring, and retaining high-performing analytical talent.
  • Master of Financial Modeling: Exceptional ability to build complex, scalable, and intuitive risk-adjusted financial models from scratch to evaluate partnerships, macro trends, and multi-year scenarios (ideally has utilized different AI tools in financial modeling).
  • Strategic Frameworks: Strong command of strategic frameworks, market sizing methodologies (TAM/SAM/SOM), and corporate/portfolio management practices.
  • Cross-Functional & Subsidiary Collaboration: Proven ability to work across decentralized business units, cross-functional strategy teams, or corporate subsidiaries to gather intelligence and build alignment.
  • The "Builder" Mentality: Experience taking ambiguous strategic questions or fragmented data environments and creating structured, scalable financial frameworks from scratch.
  • Mission-Driven Alignment: Deep resonance with Mozilla’s mission, balancing fiscal responsibility with a commitment to privacy, open-source, and public-benefit technology.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business); MBA or CFA charter is a strong plus.
What You’ll Get:
  • Generous performance-based bonus plans to all eligible employees - we share in our success as one team
  • Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting (regardless of whether you contribute)
  • Quarterly all-company wellness days where everyone takes a pause together
  • Country-specific holidays plus a day off for your birthday
  • One-time home office stipend
  • Annual professional development budget
  • Quarterly well-being stipend
  • Considerable paid parental leave
  • Employee referral bonus program
  • Other benefits (life/AD&D, disability, EAP, etc. - varies by country)
