Role Description

As a Distinguished Solution Architect, you will be one of the most senior and experienced solution architecture practitioners within the Solution Engineering organization. You will play a defining role in helping Salesforce's most strategic customers become Agentic Enterprises by designing transformative, enterprise architectures that leverage the full Salesforce Platform, including Agentforce, Data Cloud, and other platform capabilities.
This is not simply an execution role. At the Distinguished level, you are expected to shape architectural strategy, influence Salesforce's product and technology direction, and serve as a recognized authority on enterprise solution architecture both internally and externally. You will work on Salesforce's most complex, high-value customer engagements across industries and business models—from pre-sales through adoption—while leading executive-level architecture conversations with business and technology leaders.
You will be a central member of the Solution Engineering Architecture organization, whose mission is to inspire, architect, prove, and enable customer success. You will model what it means to be a trusted technical advisor, helping organizations realize measurable business outcomes through the Salesforce Platform and AI-powered transformation.

As a Distinguished Solution Architect, you will establish enterprise architecture patterns, reference architectures, and best practices that accelerate customer success across the Salesforce ecosystem.

Your Impact & ResponsibilitiesStrategic Architecture Leadership
  • Define and lead enterprise solution architecture strategy for Salesforce's most strategic and complex customer engagements.
  • Architect end-to-end Agentic Enterprise solutions leveraging Agentforce, Data Cloud, and the broader Salesforce Platform.
  • Design enterprise AI interoperability and scalable architectures across Salesforce and third-party ecosystems.
  • Develop thought leadership on enterprise architecture, AI governance, security, compliance, and responsible AI.
  • Create reusable architecture frameworks, reference architectures, best practices, and implementation patterns used across Solution Engineering.
Customer Engagement
  • Lead executive architecture workshops, technical discovery sessions, architecture reviews, and strategic solution design engagements.
  • Translate complex business challenges into scalable enterprise solution architectures and transformation roadmaps.
  • Build compelling solution proposals that balance immediate business value with long-term architectural strategy.
  • Partner with executive stakeholders to shape technical strategy before active sales cycles begin.
  • Design solutions focused on customer adoption, consumption, business outcomes, and long-term success.
  • Provide architectural governance and implementation guidance for Salesforce Professional Services and partner organizations.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate across Solution Engineering, Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, Professional Services, and the partner ecosystem.
  • Influence Salesforce product strategy, architecture standards, and technical best practices.
  • Establish architectural governance and technical handoff standards that ensure solution integrity throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Contribute to AI Centers of Excellence, innovation initiatives, and technical strategy programs.
Thought Leadership & Enablement
  • Publish thought leadership on enterprise architecture, AI transformation, Agentforce, Data Cloud, and Salesforce platform strategy.
  • Lead architecture enablement programs, architecture forums, and technical education initiatives.
  • Mentor Solution Architects and Solution Engineers while establishing standards for architectural excellence.
  • Represent Salesforce at executive briefings, conferences, customer events, and industry forums.
Operational Excellence
  • Achieve annual business objectives and strategic customer engagement goals.
  • Maintain accurate architectural documentation and customer engagement records.
  • Continuously expand expertise across Salesforce technologies, AI capabilities, enterprise architecture, and emerging technologies.
Required QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Solution Engineering, Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Technical Consulting, Software Engineering, or another customer-facing technical role.
  • Extensive experience designing enterprise solutions for complex business and technology environments.
  • Deep expertise across multiple Salesforce platform capabilities, including Agentforce, Data Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud, MuleSoft, Slack, Tableau, Platform technologies, and AI capabilities.
  • Experience designing scalable enterprise solutions across public cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
Technical Knowledge
  • Knowledge of enterprise applications, relational databases, ERP technologies, APIs, integration patterns, middleware, event-driven architectures, and modern enterprise application design.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise AI architecture, autonomous agents, AI governance, security, compliance, and responsible AI.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data architecture, Master Data Management, analytics, data governance, and AI-ready data strategies.
Communication & Leadership
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, collaboration, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive and technical audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams to solve complex technical problems in diverse and dynamic organizational environments.
  • Experience influencing executive stakeholders, including CIOs, CTOs, business executives, and enterprise architects.
  • Demonstrated organizational impact through reusable architecture assets, frameworks, standards, or thought leadership adopted beyond an immediate team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Salesforce certifications across one or more product domains.
  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or progress toward advanced Architect certifications.
  • Previous experience as a Solution Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solution Architect, Technical Architect, Enterprise Architect, or equivalent customer-facing technical leadership role.
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with enterprise applications, analytics platforms, collaboration tools, and partner technologies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent methodologies.
  • Experience with design thinking, value-based selling, executive consulting, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Software development experience with modern programming languages and enterprise application development.
  • Experience working with AI-powered development tools and modern engineering practices.

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $236,810 - $316,750 annually There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. In California and New York, and select cities in the metropolitan areas of Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Washington DC, the base pay range for this role in those locations is $260,470 - $348,390 per year. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
