Job Description

As the DTV Insights Lead you will play a key role in supporting Fortune Brands’ internal Design to Value (DTV) team by uncovering and translating consumer insights that drive value optimization across our existing product portfolio.

This role focuses on understanding how consumers and professionals experience and perceive current products and identifying opportunities to improve functionality, quality, and cost efficiency without compromising on user experience. You’ll apply strong research, analytical, and communication skills to help cross-functional teams make informed product decisions that enhance both consumer & professional satisfaction and business performance.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, designers, and marketing partners, as well as external research firms, to execute studies that uncover actionable insights. This is a hands-on, technical insights role focused on solving practical problems, connecting data to real-world outcomes, and enabling teams to apply insights in decision-making.

We value individuals who can Think Fast, leveraging research and analytics to guide timely product improvements; Work It Together, building strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to interpret data and drive value; and Make the Hard Call, providing grounded recommendations based on evidence and consumer need.

What you will be doing:

Consumer and Professional Research & Analysis

  • Support Design to Value (DTV) initiatives through focused research that identifies cost, quality, and performance optimization opportunities in existing products for our consumer and professional channels
  • Support the identification and development of new‑to‑portfolio product innovation opportunities through the DTV project workstream
  • Work with internal teams to define research questions and develop clear, actionable learning plans
  • Design, conduct and synthesize insights from a range of research methodologies—including qualitative, quantitative, advanced analytics, and AI‑driven approaches—to understand perceptions, product usage, and value drivers for both consumers and professionals
  • Manage and coordinate research execution with internal partners and external agencies

Data Integration & Insight Development

  • Combine primary and secondary data to develop a complete understanding of product performance needs from the consumer and professional perspective
  • Analyze consumer, professional, competitive, and category data to identify product improvement opportunities
  • Translate findings into practical, data-informed recommendations that balance consumer value with business goals

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner closely with B2C and B2B Product Management, Engineering, and Design teams to ensure research insights directly inform DTV decisions
  • Collaborate within Agile working pods to provide insights that support iterative testing and product refinement
  • Maintain relationships with research vendors and ensure research methods meet quality and timing needs
  • Communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, focusing on relevance, clarity, and next steps

Continuous Improvement & Technical Application

  • Support the adoption of new research methodologies, tools, and analytic approaches to improve efficiency and depth of insight
  • Contribute to building a repository of consumer learnings that can be shared across teams to inform future value creation efforts
  • Apply a technical, data-informed mindset to prioritize opportunities that deliver measurable impact

    Qualifications

    • 10+ years of experience in consumer insights, market research, product innovation, or related fields
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or high school diploma/GED and relevant experience required
    • Fluency in a range of research methodologies, including qualitative, quantitative, advanced analytics, and AI-driven approaches
    • Demonstrated experience supporting new product innovation
    • Experience in product and user-testing research - must have hands-on experience with multiple research methodologies
    • Proven ability to design and conduct research with B2C, B2B and professional audiences, including experience managing specialized B2B research partners
    • Demonstrated success to design and execute advanced analytic methodologies (e.g., discrete choice modeling) to address complex business questions
    • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to distill complexity into inspiring, actionable narratives
    • Proficiency with DIY tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Suzy, Zappi, Forsata, UserTesting).
    • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in a related discipline
    • Experience applying Agile and AI-enabled research methods with direct experience in Agile sprint environments or product pods
