Reports To: Director of Engineering / Chief Engineer
The Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s physical facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house systems. This role ensures all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with brand standards, local codes, and company policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral MaintenancePerform routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting spaces, and public areas
Respond promptly to guest and internal maintenance requests
Complete preventive maintenance (PM) tasks as assigned
Monitor and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Troubleshoot and repair equipment such as PTAC units, boilers, chillers, and kitchen equipment
Ensure proper operation of fire/life safety systems
Follow scheduled PM program for rooms and equipment
Maintain accurate logs and records of completed work
Identify potential issues and proactively resolve them
Ensure compliance with OSHA, local codes, and brand safety standards
Maintain a safe work environment
Participate in emergency response (fire alarm, power outage, etc.)
Interact professionally with guests when addressing maintenance concerns
Ensure minimal disruption while performing repairs in occupied areas
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical certification or trade school training preferred
1–3 years of hotel maintenance or related experience preferred
Strong knowledge of:
HVAC systems
Electrical and plumbing systems
General building maintenance
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Basic computer skills (work order systems like HotSOS, Synergy, etc.)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Indoor and outdoor work areas
Exposure to heat, cold, noise, and mechanical equipment
Hotel or hospitality maintenance experience
Experience with energy management systems (EMS/BMS)
Pool certification (if applicable)
