Director of Engineering

You will own the architecture, strategy, and planning for our mission-critical, industry-leading OpenFox Message Switch platform. This platform is the industry leader over the country. It is the chosen platform in 31 states and eight federal agencies. Success in this Role Includes:
- Managing the day-to-day activities and tasks of the team
- Leading and coaching the team through high-stress situations
- Improve the quality of production cut overs and support scenarios
- Leveraging your technical expertise to:
- Actively contribute accurate technical designs in our statement of work, request for proposal, design/discovery, and project initiatives
- Lead and ensure completeness of knowledge transfer and cross-training of team members
- Lead modernization of our development processes (i.e., migration to GIT, build system improvement, and code organization)
- Coach the team to alignment with our core values and adoption of new processes
- Assuming other responsibilities as required for the role
Qualities of a Successful Candidate
- Excited and energized at digging into existing code base to learn our system, its peculiarities, and to implement improvements
- Experience in managing teams through high-stress production cutovers and support scenarios for real-time, mission-critical systems
- A hands-on manager who will be there with the team and coach the staff through the challenges they face
Technical Requirements
- Expertise in C development on Unix environments (AIX & Linux)
- Unix administration
- GIT or equivalent distributed source control
Experience Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Maintaining, troubleshooting and setup of systems with 24x7 availability requirements
Job Requirements
- Report daily to corporate headquarters in Bolingbrook IL
- Regular work hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
- Travel up to 25% of time
- You must clear criminal and other background checks for access to criminal justice information for each CPI customer at this time and in the future
Job Goals & Deliverables
- 2 months
- Learn the technical architecture of our system
- Observe all team cutovers and critical support situations
