The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Engineering Software Development Manager (Level K) to support BCA Structures Engineering non-deliverable "in-house" software tools that encompass 100+ years of Boeing knowledge, experience and best practices for the benefit of the global engineering community. This position is based in Everett, WA.
The ideal candidate will manage employees supporting the software lifecycle management spanning all phases of software development lifecycle including requirements, architecture / design, quality assurance and service support. Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads employees performing software functional excellence, architecture / design, coding and quality assurance as part of the software development lifecycle.
  • Maintain software compliance with the IDT&S AD&S (applications development and sustaining) framework that includes ESATS (enterprise system architecture tool suite) and BSSR (Boeing software security requirements).
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on program business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Identifies opportunities to support enterprise initiatives and effectively manage risk on the program
  • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards over programs
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees

Boeing First-Line Leader Assessment: To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • Experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC) management (including software portfolio oversight, requirements gathering and management (e.g., user stories, use cases), and application of development methodologies such as Agile and DevOps to ensure continuous delivery and improvement).
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 2+ years of experience as the technical leader or manager of a product deployment team.
  • Experience with ARP9005TM "SAE International - Aerospace Guidance for Non-Deliverable Software" and/or the airborne equivalent DO-178C or DO-278.
  • 2+ years of experience with engineering software quality assurance (validation & verification).
  • Experience with the use of AI in code manipulation.
  • Experience working in an IPT structure as part of a larger cross-functional product team.
  • Experience with engineering scientific computing where the integrity of functional results can matter to several significant digits.
  • Exposure to Structures design and analysis engineering domains.
  • Familiar with Boeing processes and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the Scale Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile software development methodologies.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay range: $151,300 - $204,700
